Congratulations to Shirley Mesley for the she won this year at the Hamilton County Fair.  Shirley has been painting pictures, like the covered bridge which she has brought to Chapter and to Dining Out to share with us.  We all thought they were very good and so did the judges at the Fair - she submitted two pictures and each won 3rd Place.  She also entered three purses:  one was crocheted and won a blue ribbon; the other two (one was regular sewn and one was a red/white/blue scarf) - each won white ribbons.  Congratulations again!!!

What's happening in District 20 and around the State?

On the mend...Sister Marge Rowley's sister-in-law, PGM, Marilyn Rowley is recovering from a fall at an inspection on 11/1/08.  "At Waverly today, following their installation, Mom fell down 12 stairs and hit her face on the wall at the bottom of the stairs.  She had 3 cat scans and x-rays of her collarbone, shoulder, arm and left wrist.  They only thing she broke was her nose the the left side where her nose pad on her glasses hit....she had three tiny stitches across the bridge of her nose where the glasses cut it.  She has rug burns on her face below her left eye, beside her nose and the a rug burn on her left forearm about three inches long.  Needless to say, we missed Grove City's installation at 7:30 that evening.UPDATE:  11/3/08:  "Mom is doing as well as can be expected.  She is bruised all over her face, of course with a broken nose the left eye is very swollen as is the nose.  She has bruising all over her face, left shoulder and arm, the wrist is sprained we think.  The four x-rays say it's not broken. Her legs and knees are fine, the lense implants are okay, and she's able to get her eye drops in twice a day.  She is very stiff and sore and bruised.  But by the Grace of God she ONLY broke her nose.  AND scared me to death!  The people at Waverly were great.  Their chaplain rode to the hospital with me, then Milly Beth New stayed at my side the entire four hours we were at the hospital.  Carlie Hatfield, Susan Thomas and her sister Becky sat vigil in the lobby until Mom left.  They would have riden with me if they had had to transport Mom to Columbus for anything.  Our gowns were the hit of the emergency room!!  Mom will be down a couple of weeks, she looks just awful. The rug burns are really the most serious and we need to keep them clean and moist so that new skin will form and heal."

Congratulations to Sister Drusilla Giles, Mt. Healthy Chapter #365, who is the new Grand Representative of Wisconsin.  Sister Drusilla joins Sister Joan Allen who is Grand Representative of Wyoming and Sister Betty Linde who is Grand Representative of Pennsylvania.

Do you love animals? We do, won't you help us?

Hi to all the animal lovers - this request is pretty simple.  Please tell all of your family & friends ASAP!  The Animal Rescue Site (valid website) is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.  It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box, "Fund Food for Animals" for free.  This doesn't cost you a thing and you don't have to sign up for anything.  The corporate sponsors/advertisers of this website use the number of daily visits to donate food to the animals in exchange for advertising.  Please pass this along to everyone you know.
