Worthy Matron Sister June Thorpe and Worthy Patron Brother John Warrington with office bearers and members Perth Chapter No 46 and of Carnation Applecross Chapter No 84.

We had a beautiful and very happy day with an installation on 14 November 2009.
Sister June Thorpe and Brother John Warrington were installed as our new Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron. We had our regular meeting starting at 3.00 pm, then our installation meeting at 4.00pm. We were very pleased to have some interstate visitors with us – Sister Pamela Sangwell and Brother Alan Sangwell from Tasmania, Sister Ann Brogden from New South Wales (now living in Perth) and Sister Criz Manai from Rome, Italy.
It was followed by a very friendly sit down banquet with friends and our very welcome Sisters and Brothers from Carnation Applecross Chapter, Worthy Matron Sister Margaret Hamilton, and Worthy Patron Brother Richard Hamilton, and their members.
We are looking forward to a really happy year with our new office bearers.
Our programme for the year includes lunches, picnics, social occasions and of course our fundraising efforts, chocolate selling, sausage sizzles etc. We are proud of our record in helping others both here in the West and in Australia. We have donated so far this year to the Toodyay Bushfire Appeal, and of course our Worthy Matron’s charity (The Royal Flying Doctors) will be helped later in her term of office.
We would be very happy for anyone to visit – just let us know when you are visiting the West.

Perth Chapter History and Information

The Institution Ceremony of Perth Chapter No 319 was held , on Saturday 19th October 1929 at 4:30p.m. and was carried out by Bro. John McKirdy, Past Patron of Martha Chapter No 26 in Dalmuir, Scotland.
The Instituting Officer called all present to order and stated the object of the meeting and of The Order of the Eastern Star. The Secretary read the Dispensation authorising the formation of Perth Chapter No 319 and the names of the Petitioners. The Founder Members, of which there were twenty one Sisters and nine Brothers, were obligated, followed by Affialiation of three members , and a further thirteen Sisters were Initiated.
Over the years the membership steadily rose and there were many fraternal visits with the seven other Chapters in Western Australia, and the members of Perth Chapter engaged in fundraising with the view to building its own meeting hall.
In 1985, when Chapters in Australia came under the autonomous og The United Grand Chapter of Australia there were four Chapters in Perth Metropolitan Area. These Chapters came under the jurisdiction of a Deputy Grand Matron, Deputy Grand Patron and committee. Perth Chapter No 319 was renumbered No 46.
In 2001, at the Biennial Sessions, it was passed that this level of government be disbanded and the Chapters in Western Australia (now only two - Carnation Applecross Chapter being the second Western Australia Chapter) come under direct jurisdiction of the United Grand Chapter of Australia.
Perth Chapter has held numerous fundraising activities, including Easter Basket Raffles, Christmas Hamper Raffles, lamington drives and film afternoons which have enabled the Chapter to donate to charitable institutions. Such institutions as Lions Eye Institute, Cancer and eart foundations, Royal Flying Doctor Service and Cord Blood Research.
Perth Chapter,in conjunction with Carnation Applecross Chapter regularly hold Saussage Sizzles to raise funds, while other social activities are shared, such as the three hour bus trip to country town Bridgetown, where three of our members reside, to share lunch and pleasent camaraderie.
Both Chapters in Western Australia work and help each other and have a very good rapport. We hope this relationship can continue to flourish for many years to come.
