From Worthy Matron's Desk

This year has passed so quickly I can hardly believe another chapter in Lidcombe’s book of memories is coming to a close. Our year started off with a wonderful installation held in December followed by Christmas cheer. Throughout the year each month a service was presented for the enjoyment of the members and the visitors alike. We have visited many Chapters throughout the year and have enjoyed there meetings and the Grand Ball was beautiful and I enjoyed myself as did everyone who attended and we look forward to the 60th birthday party of Grand Chapter.

Lidcombe has had the honour to have special guest visit through the year from the Most Worthy Grand Matron Sister Lois Allen, Melbourne District Grand Matron Sister Nancy Croxford and from the Illawarra District Grand Chapter Sister Jennifer Shepherd and Brother Neil Gillies

Our casserole and curry luncheon was a great success and so too was our card making day in September thank you to the two special ladies from Campbelltown Chapter who made this happen. Thank you everyone who attended these functions to make them a great day with fellowship and fun.

In July the Worthy Grand Matron Sister Margaret Smith and Worthy Grand Patron Brother Ray Robey and the Office Bearers of the Grand Chapter visited, a lovely Owl service was presented to the Grand Matron and Grand Patron. Also on this occasion a service was presented to the brothers in attendance called The Petticoat Lodge where five brothers were initiated into the Petticoat Lodge No 1042 and I have included a photo the brothers took this in good spirit and the members also enjoyed participating in the service.

We were honoured throughout the year to have visitations from our District Grand Matron of the Parramatta District Grand Chapter Sister Barbara Mills and her support and love for Lidcombe was appreciated. A special Spinning Dream Service was presented by the members at our Birthday meeting in August to Sister Mills. Our 82nd Birthday meeting was a great success with nine visiting Worthy Matrons and their members.

The members of Lidcombe Chapter would like to thank the Sisters and Brothers who visited throughout the year to show their support for Lidcombe and shared fun, fellowship and supper with us. God Bless Merry Christmas to All from Lidcombe Chapter No 42.

I will leave with an extract from our October service called The Three Doors Faith Hope and Love.

We look forward to another year with our Sisters and Brothers

Who came and taught and served, until His day was done.

He set three doors to enter, is man’s soul would grow,

Three doors that need a golden key the portals to swing wide.

For Friendship has a sacred shrine that only they who know

The secrets of the Holy Place may stand beside.

These doors are Faith Hope and Love.
