INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS

by William R. Fischer

INTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS

Those qualifications of a candidate which refer to a condition known only to himself, and which are not the same through out the world are:

1. That he comes forward of his own free will and accord.

2. No mercenary motives.

3. Wish to conform to the usage's of the order.

This knowledge can only come from his own statements which are included in the preliminary questions.

EXTERNAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Moral person.

2. Proper mental state.

3. Having a belief in the Supreme Being.

4. Political... because you are to conform to the government of the country in which you live.

The part of the ritual that expresses that the internal and not the external qualifications is evident from the context that it refers entirely to "worldly, wealth and honors". These are not to be taken into consideration in inquiring into the qualifications of a candidate.
