  • The Natural Bridge weekend was a trip of a trip. Jenna, Kasey, Stacey, Brooke, Susan, Kerry, Dad James, Mom Zina, Mom Melanie and myself all went down Saturday morning. We arrived just in time to miss our scheduled tour of the caverns so we had to take a later one, but all was well. (I got one picture of everyone admiring a crack in the ceiling made by an actually earthquake.) We also toured the wax museum which I believe the majority of us would agree was pretty erie it was so realistic. We tooled around in the gift shop for a while then headed off to a buffet dinner, which was a very unique experience. The food was fine and normal but the company was a little wacky. Susan and Kerry were laughing so hard, with food in their mouths, at Dad James and Mom Melanie I was afraid I was going to get mashed potatoes sprayed in my ear.
The following day we attended a very nice Worship service and the 'kick-off' Grand Visitation of the season at Bethel 7 in Salem. It was awesome. I believe everyone truly enjoyed their weekend. There may have been a few points when some, Kasey and Brooke, found it difficult to sleep, but flipping the mattress seemed to work, right girls?
  • We served a dinner honoring the Grand Master of Virginia on the 17th of September, and got to meet the big man himself. He gave us all these cool pins.
  • The Grand Visitation for Bethel's 29, 51 & 53 in Richmond was postponed as Hurricane Isabel had other plans that day for the Richmond area.
  • The Guardian's Briefing was held on the 20th of September at the Hampton's house. Almost all the girls were present. We discussed the expectations for the year of the Grand and Bethel Guardian Councils AND THEN we went to Fuddrucker's and feasted on the 'World's Greatest Hamburgers.'
  • On the 24th of September, we served a dinner for the Grand Commandery at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The girls were recognized by the attendees as I introduced everyone who was there to help. We were supposed to have ordered pizza to eat for dinner, but there was extra Prime Rib we had to help get rid of. Oh well.
  • Jenna, Kasey, Kerry, Mom Wendy, Dad James, Mom Melanie & Mom Judy represented Bethel 22 at the Grand Visitation of Bethel's 16, 21, 45 & 55 on the 27th of September.
  • The Honored Queen, Master Councilor, Worthy Advisor's Ball was held on the evening of the 27th at Kena Temple in Fairfax. Almost all the girls from 22 were present and several brought prospective members. Jenna was escorted as a distinguished guest for being the Honored Queen this term.
  • Our Grand Visitation was on the 28th of September. We were to share the experience with Bethel's 1 & 52, however, Bethel 52 was not able to attend as the mother of one of their girls passed away during the week. They attended her memorial service instead. While we were in the midst our of ceremony, our thoughts and prayers were with Bethel 52. The actually ceremony was written by girls from Bethel 52 and performed by the girls of 1 and 22. It all just goes to show that we are one big family and come through for one another in the best and worst of times.
  • Several girls, a few prospects and a few DeMolay got together at the Lanham's house on the 3rd of October for a 'Movie Night.'
