The Beginning of the Blue Envelope:
In 1955, the Scottish Rite Committee on Benevolence
moved to invite our members to participate in the
financial support of the Supreme Council Benevolent
							Foundation.
The Foundation, established in 1941, then
provided funds for our Research in Schizophrenia and
the Supreme Council Education and Charity Fund,
which distributed Leon M. Abbott Scholarships.

That groundbreaking appeal, endertaken with the
oversight of Ill. Richard Kern, 33°,
of Pennsylvania, received a "ready response from our
Brethern."  More than 13,000 members donated a total
							of $28,283.
In 2008 - more than 26,000 members supported our 54th Annual Blue Envelope Appeal and donated almost $650,000 to our Benevolent and Education Funds. These charities distributed more than $3,500,000 in the form of scholarships, fellowships and support to the National Heritage Museum.
The Blue Envelope is a tribute to our enduring Masonic values.
