Text Box: Yankton Scottish Rite Fall Reunion to be in Huron October 13

Yankton Scottish Rite’s 2012 Fall Reunion will be held in Huron on October 13. This will be the second reunion of the Valley to be held outside of Yankton, and will be hosted by the Huron Scottish Rite Club. This event will be patterned after last September’s successful reunion in Pierre that resulted in the creation of 15 new Masters of the Royal Secret. Ritualists from across the Valley’s coverage area are looking forward to traveling to Huron to confer the degrees for a class of eager candidates in the Huron Masonic Center. Registration and photos will begin at 7 AM.

The floor plan of the Huron Masonic Center permits presentation of degrees alternating between two adjacent rooms, reducing down time needed to reset properties, and allowing nine degrees to be exemplified during the day. Degrees not exemplified will be communicated to the class during the day. Here is the proposed schedule:

Text Box: and assisting the stage crew in setting up the rooms for degree presentation would be appreciated. After conclusion of the 32nd Degree, help will again be needed to reload everything to be returned to Yankton.

The Huron conferral offers a major advantage to Masons in the area, since they can receive the Scottish Rite degrees near their home area, without incurring the time and cost of travel to Yankton. The mix of optional degrees is different than those conferred in the last two reunions held at Yankton and Pierre. One of the Valley’s goals is that each Scottish Rite Club would be responsible for conferring at least one of the degrees so that eventually all 29 Scottish Rite degrees will be exemplified.

Members are urged to encourage their Masonic brothers in the North Central SD area to take advantage of this opportunity to become a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason close to home. A petition is enclosed in this copy of the News. Please remind your candidate(s) to dress appropriately and try to bring a coat and tie for the photo when he arrives. He can remove them after the photo shoot if he wishes.

If you have prospective candidates and need help in recruiting them for the class, just email yanktonsr@gmail.com or call the Yankton Scottish Rite office at 605-665-2414.
Text Box: WASHINGTON DC MASONIC BUS TOUR

The Grand Lodge of South Dakota has been approached as to organizing a Masonic Bus Tour of Washington, DC. We are now looking for input from our brothers throughout the state as to your interest on going on this tour, the time of year you would be most interested in going, most interesting points of interest you may like to visit and any other input you may like to add.

The tours could take place in late February 2013 to make attendance at the George Washington Birthday party at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial possible. In early April the Cherry Blossoms would add to the trip. Late fall would be a relaxing time after a hot summer. The cost of a tour may vary depending on the time of the trip and the points visited.

Pickup points could start as far west as Rapid City and continue along I-90 to Sioux Falls for departure to Washington.

Please contact Don Gray, Junior Grand Warden, with your input and further information on a Masonic Tour of Washington, DC. Don can be contacted at: Home Phone: 605-356-2243, Cell Phone 605-366-9466 or by email at donagray@hotmail.com.
