Thank you for subscribing to the WebMason-List. This page is your basic roadmap as to what our focus is, and what can or cannot be done with this List.

The WebMason-List has been set up as a forum for those who are interested in discussing "Internet specific" topics, and would like to receive or offer support for your own or other brethren's web pages. We ARE NOT trying to replace the other fine Masonic List-Serves. Our intent is to offer a topic-specific forum to a group with similar interests. This should benefit the other Lists by shifting some of their Internet questions & comments to us, and leave them more room for general Masonic discussion.
Although we haven't yet spoken with Henry Miller and the other Masonic List administrators, we are confident that they will welcome us as a supplement to their Lists.

General Rules & Guidelines:

As the Administrator of the WebMason-List, I am the one who ultimately decides what is or is not appropriate to post. Fortunately, I am offering a lot of leeway in this area. As long as your questions or comments pertain to Internet or Computer topics, you will not be hearing from me, except as a participant. Virus warnings, or those scary notices of a virus to watch out for are MOST unwelcome on this list.   Topics of general Masonic interest, or subjects that obviously have no connection to the use of computers or the internet are forbidden. I ask that you post these messages to Lists that cater to a more general discussion. Should you forget this, I will send you a warning off-List. If the behavior persists, you will be removed from the List. It is up to my discretion as to how fast someone is bounced, or how many warnings I choose to give. I'm sure you will all govern yourselves accordingly.

Can and Can't Do's

The List messages can be sent in digest form if desired. To receive your messages in Digest mode: Send an e-mail to me Type this in the subject line of the message:

receive digest for webmason list {name}

Attachments are not supported by this List.

Some e-mail aliases may not work with this List. ***The mastermason.com aliases work fine. If you subscribe and do not receive your 'confirmation message' or List posts, send a message to the List-Master

Do Not ridicule or insult other List members. We all have differing levels of computer and Internet experience. If a brother or sister asks for constructive criticism of their site, post your comments off-List if you think it may embarrass them. Better yet, if you can't say it nice, don't say it at all.

Unlike other Lists, replying to posts sends your reply to the List, rather than the sender. Please edit your replies by snipping off all unneccessary text. Our mail-server will appreciate your efforts.

Announcing non-Masonic websites or resources is OK as long as it has the possibility of providing useful information. Do Not post your personal Money-Making or Spam site unless you want to show us some new design trick that has never been seen before.

Software & hardware questions & announcements are welcome.

Announcing your site or anothers site is good.

Asking for help is why we're here.

Commenting on policies that can affect Masonic web sites, or the Internet in general are most welcome. ie. Grand Lodge ' Internet Standards', Webpage rating systems, online security, .etc

I think you all get the picture. Don't be afraid to navigate unchartered waters. If the threads start going off into the wrong tangents, I'll step in and get things back on course.
