Willis Stewart Lodge No. 224, F. & A. M.

Annual Report of the Secretary
December 6, 2016

To the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Brethren of Willis Stewart Lodge No. 224, F. & A. M.:

My Dear Brethren,

I begin this report with a tribute to our Worshipful Master John C. Burgin, the 166th Master of Willis Stewart Lodge. His leadership has led us to a banner year in which we earned the Grand Master’s Lodge of Excellency Award and the District Meeting Attendance Award.

Our annual Installation of Officers was held on December 15, 2015. John C. Burgin was installed as the 166th Master of Willis Stewart Lodge No. 224 by Past Master Harold Lee with Past Master Al Clark acting as Installing Marshal. The ladies, guests and brethren were treated to a splendid meal prepared by the Middletown Chapter, O.E.S. Social Club.

Willis Stewart Lodge had the following Brothers enter the Celestial Lodge above: Robert Moberly, April 10, 2016 and James Earl Watkins, November 4, 2016.

Widow’s Program

Past Master Bruce Lott continues to provide a great service to our Lodge, and especially our Widows, by chairing our Widow’s Program. Greeting cards are provided for every season along with funding for projects for our Widows. Fruit baskets and other favors are provided at Christmas.

During this year, we initiated 6, passed 5, raised 5, admitted 4, demitted 2, reinstated 1 and 2 Brothers died.

Pinotti and Upton Memorial Funds

Past Master Jack L. L. Upton and his wife Wanda Porter Upton; and Past Master Donald C. Pinotti, left bequests to aid Willis Stewart Lodge with our programs and Lodge Members. The bequests are part of the Trust funds managed by the Board of Trustees.

Upton Foundation
The Upton Foundation, Inc. provided one, one-thousand-dollar scholarship grant to a deserving student working to advance his education. Past Master and Assistant Secretary Charlie Blanford continues his valuable service as Treasurer of the Foundation.

This completes twenty-five years serving as your Secretary. I appreciate the honor conferred on me with the service plaque and delicious cake given to me to mark this milestone. The years have flown by fading into time. It is a great honor for me to serve this Fraternity, but particularly Willis Stewart Lodge. I appreciate the continued confidence expressed by your entrusting this office to me. I pray that my efforts have all been toward the Glory of God and the betterment of our beloved Willis Stewart Lodge.

I congratulate our Worshipful Master John C. Burgin and his Officers on an outstanding year. This has been a great year for our Lodge thanks to the dedication of our Officers. I also extend my deepest gratitude to our Treasurer Past Master Clyde Wilkins for his assistance and counsel. Assistant Secretary and Past Master Charlie Blanford has been a wonderful friend and partner.

I offer my congratulations and solid support to our incoming Master, Brother Marc C. Joos, in the days ahead.

May God bless each of you and your Families as we celebrate the birth of our Lord in the coming days. I wish a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year to each of you and your loved ones.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kenneth L. Meredith, PM
