     Each Lodge Officer is taken in turn and a full explanation of the role is given.
     This booklet is compiled from a series of papers and comments presented in United Masters Lodge, No.167 in 1976. The authors are all Past Masters of Lodges in the Auckland District holding Charter under the Grand Lodge of New Zealand. The papers were based, on practices generally observed in the Auckland District and were intended to provide a general guide for prospective Lodge Officers and a foundation on which to build.
     When the Grand Lodge of New Zealand was erected its member Lodges were drawn from the three parent Constitutions and these Lodges brought with them many of the observances and customs of their old allegiance.
     Although about New Zealand practices these explanations could well be close to lodge practices world-wide
