Every year during the month of September the Free and Accepted Masons of Honolulu, Hawaii provide a Constitutional Observance program with events that support “The Declaration of Independence”, “The Constitution of the United States of America” and “The Bill of Rights”. The purpose of these programs is to make citizens aware of their privilege to live in the United States and of the ultimate price that our forefathers paid for our freedom. This year on September 17th we have organized a historic reenactment of the Boston Tea Party, Revolutionary War including the events that evolved our Nation, its Constitution and Bill of Rights. On September 17th, the Free and Accepted Masons of Honolulu, Hawaii will gather with members of the community and youth groups at the Aloha Tower Market Place in Honolulu. Sam Adams and John Hancock along with youth groups and members of the community will march down to the waterfront to the wharf where an old three masted ship the "Falls of Clyde" is moored to Pier 7. We will board the ship dressed as patriots with the battle cry, "No Taxation Without Representation!" We will then proceed to throw prop boxes of tea into the harbor. Next we will hear from "Thomas Paine", "Richard Henry Lee", "John and Abigail Adams", General "George Washington" and "Joseph Warren", along with the Continental Army complete with black powder rifles and cannon fire will lead us through the revolution from Bunker Hill to Yorktown. "Molly Pitcher" will be there manning her husband's cannon, "Betsy Ross" will display the nation’s new flag. The "Marquis de Lafayette", "Paul Revere", "John Paul Jones" and even the privateers will be represented. The event will end with a grand finale consisting of Benjamin Franklin" who will discuss the Constitution and "Patrick Henry" stressing the importance of the Bill of Rights.

Refreshments have been donated by local businesses and sponsors. Many people of the community will dress up in the clothes of the era. The event perpetuates the memory of the men and women who by their services and sacrifices during the war of the American Revolution achieved the independence of the American people. Not only does it educate and remind us of our history, it is a lot of fun as well. If you are interested in participating in the event, please contact the Director of Activities at:
