Who are we?

It all started back in 1955 when a bunch of guys got together for a good cause. Since then the streets just haven't been the same...............

This is Our 45Th Year !

The Sphinx Temple Motor Patrol is a Shrine organization. We are  affiliated with the Sphinx Temple in Newington Connecticut. The Motor Patrol services all of Connecticut for parades, and we do special events throughout the Northeast. Through those parades we raise money to support our local Shriner Hospitals in Boston and in Springfield Massachusetts.

When you see us we are riding little jeeps. These jeeps were hand built by the original founders of the Sphinx Temple Motor Patrol back in 1954/55. Some of the cars are older than the members who ride them. All of the Jeeps are registered motor vehicles with the state of Connecticut. There are 22 of these jeeps in existence and one wrecker. At the present time all of these jeeps with the exception of one, which was stolen, are still being used for parades. Please visit the stolen jeep area for more information on this jeep. A lot of TLC is used to keep the jeeps running. On the off season many of the jeeps are refurbished for next seasons parades. Our parade season usually starts in March and runs all the way into December, weather permitting.
