Welcome to the
Shively Lodge #951 Masonic Library and Art Studio. It is our Mission
Statement to provide a major resource center for Masonic research and the
creation of Masonic Art, while always maintaining a relaxed and
comfortable atmosphere where true Fraternal Fellowship can be enjoyed.
We have amassed a very impressive
collection of Masonic Literature, several hundred volumes of which are
original 19th Century editions. While by no means complete, we believe
that our collection represents a true cross-section, and at the very least
touches upon every aspect of Masonic Literature, providing the vital
resource necessary to the student of Freemasonry who wishes to study his
subject. Also, providing the workplace necessary to the Masonic Artist to
create his art.
At the same time providing an enormous
resource of Masonic Artwork, at the very least, thousands upon thousands
of reproductions of classic and modern Masonic Art of which once again at
the very least, many hundreds, if not thousands, are original 19th
Century prints and engravings. (Sorry folks, we haven't finished counting
yet)
Our Library has no budget and receives no money from the Lodge. Our
collection has been built entirely by donations. There are two ways you
can donate; one of course is to just give us the books outright, but if
you would prefer, your donation can be placed on loan in our collection,
and will be immediately returned to the loaner upon request. No donation
is too small, and all are greatly appreciated.
The point of all of this being, this wealth of
resource material is available not only to the members of Shively Lodge,
but to the Masonic Community at large. So come visit the Shively Lodge
#951 Masonic Library and Art Studio, open 6pm on first and third
Saturdays, and closes when the last Brother leaves. Special visitation can
be arranged.
