Most Worshipful
Grand Master Powell,
My name is
Bro. Michael Aldrich of Warren G. Harding Lodge #260 F&AM of the
great state of Washington. Recently I had the pleasure of visiting
St. George Lodge #239 while in Louisville for Navy week during
“Thunder over Louisville”. I wanted to let you know as a Navy
officer, I travel to many lands and see many great things, but the
highlight of my visit to Kentucky was attending that lodge.
My father (PM
Gerald Aldrich, F&AM of Ohio) now lives in Elizabethtown, KY and I
asked him to accompany myself and my local friend PM Philip Setters
to the lodge. We were met with the warmest hospitality I have seen
at any lodge in my travels. As we enjoyed dinner the brothers
visited with both my father and I and really made us feel at home
and accepted among men. You can image how wonderful it is to have
your father (the one who raised you in life and lodge) beside you
attending a great lodge so far away from home. After lodge, we were
invited to a local air club and enjoyed a few drinks with many of
the lodge members and had a wonderful time telling stories and
building friendships. As for lodge, the Worshipful Master ruled
over the meeting with unparalleled knowledge and truly facilitated
one of the finest EA degrees I have seen. Those two young men that
were initiated were given a top-notch degree and one you should be
very proud of. Please accept these comments as a small token of my
appreciation and as a personal praise for your dynamic and steadfast
leadership. These men are a direct reflection of your line’s
devotion to the craft and training prowess. Again, it was a
pleasure to watch your masons in action.
On behalf of
myself and my father, thank you for the opportunity and the
privilege. I ask if it pleases you MW, please see that the
Worshipful Master and his lodge are recognized for their efforts of
fellowship. Please forward this communication with any of your
comments to the lodge and ask that it be read to the brethren.
My father is
very excited about the fine men he had the chance to meet and it has
invigorated him to attend lodge more frequently. Nothing in life
could make me happier than to see my father happily attending lodge
with those who he can truly call his brothers. When I retire from
active duty, I will give strong consideration to retire among such
men and may one day call on your Grand Lodge for a petition of
membership. Thank you again and may God be with you and your yours.
