The Past Master's Jewel

For nearly one hundred years the romance of this jewel has lain hidden in the leaves of the Lodge records and, when the pages of history are turned over, they unfold an interesting story, awakening in the heart a responsive chord of appreciation and commendation.

At the Lodge meeting held on 5th October 1896, a very pleasing Ceremony was witnessed by the brethren when the Master, W.Bro. Jas. H. Inman, pinned a Past Master's Jewel on the breast of W.Bro. W. Andreson Bell, I.P.M. W.Bro. B. J. Thompson, P.P.G.S., of Northumberland, who presented it to W.Bro. W. Anderson Bell as a mark of respect and fraternal regard.

Later in 1900 on 7th May, the family of the late W.Bro. W. Anderson Bell presented this jewel to the Lodge, who accepted it in trust in perpetuity for the use of the reigning Immediate Past master.
