The Warden's Columns

During the Great War, 1914 - 1918, the late W.Bro. Thomas Greenfield, P.P.G.D., served five years in His Majesty's Forces.

As a thanksgiving of his safe return to his native land, also as a token of fraternal regard to his mother Lodge, W,Bro. Thomas Greenfield, who was then the Junior Warden, at the regular meeting on 6th September, 1920, with due reverence presented to the Lodge two handsome Warden's Colomns, in ivory and embossed with the Lodge crest.

Accepting this beautiful gift, the late W.Bro. Richard Hopper Holme, P.P.G.W., Chaplain, one of the Trustees, suitably thanked the donor, and in his brightest vein gave a brilliant discourse on the beauty and significance of the Two-Pillars. Then taking a Column in each hand, he dedicated them in perpetuity for the use of Freemasonry, and passed each in turn to the Senior and Junior Wardens for use on all occasions.
