Great News about the Donation to Edinburgh University
-
for Parkinsons Research
Today,
Saturday 14th April 2012 I received an invitation to attend the
Opening of the Scottish Centre for Regenerative Medicine by the
Chancellor of the University, Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal
on Monday 28th May 2012.
This is
recognition for all of the efforts of Lodges and individual Brethren
to raise funds for Parkinsons UK and I shall be delighted, along
with my wife Anne, to represent all of you on this occasion.
I look
forward to meeting Dr Tilo Kunath who is carrying out the Research
Project and finding out what progress is being made. Dr Kunath has
already issued an open invitation to visit his Department and I hope
to take up this invitation in the near future.
Once
again thank you for your wonderful support for last year's Appeal!

Great News!
I
received great news from Grand Lodge yesterday! Late last year all
Provinces and Districts were asked to submit their plans for
fundraising. Of course we indicated that the focus for our
fundraising in 2011 would be Parkinsons UK. Our submission also gave
information about donations from the Glasgow Freemasons’ Hospital
Fund and the Daughter Lodges.
Grand Lodge has advised us that we should we make a submission
indicating which charities we should like to donate to out of the
magnificent sum of £22,876 allocated to the Province from the Grand
Lodge 275th Anniversary Caring and Sharing initiative.
Lodges and Brethren are asked to make suggestions as to how this sum
might be used. Please email the Office or write to Provincial Grand
Secretary.
Charitable Donations
You will by now know that
the Province has been allocated £22876.00 from Grand Lodge to
distribute to charities. This sum has been calculated on the basis
of what the Lodges raised last year which was a magnificent £32700.
The Province has been asked to make a submission to Grand Lodge of
its choices. Please submit any of your suggestions of how we should
distribute these monies.
The closing date for
making suggestions is 29th February 2012.
