Message from the Provincial Grand Master

I am pleased to intimate that since my Installation in November 2009 there are many positive items of news to report to the Brethren of the province.

At the Masters’ Dinners in January 2010 and 2011 we have been privileged to have as our Guest Speakers Brothers David Begg, Grand Secretary and Alexander Galbraith, Senior Grand Warden. Both gave their personal views of where the Craft is today and and how it is likely to develop in the future. In addition we have welcomed the Provincial Grand Masters of Kilwinning, Lanarkshire Middle Ward and Renfrewshire West at these Dinners.

crestIn October 2010 the Principal Guest and Speaker at our Annual Dance was Brother David Begg, Grand Secretary, accompanied by Mrs Fiona Begg. The Provincial Grand Master of Dumfriesshire and Mrs Porteous were also our Guests. Our Annual Dance continues to be very well supported.

The Annual Divine Services in November 2009 and 2010 showed an increase in support from the Lodges which is of course encouraging. Our Sister Provinces were present in good numbers.

At my Installation I initimated that we would direct our fundraising efforts to support the Meningitis Trust. I was delighted therefore to be able on your behalf to present a cheque for £18733 at the St Andrews Night Celebration. I PGM Alistair Hendersonextend my sincere thanks to all of you who worked so hard to achieve this magnificent sum!

This year we are supporting Parkinsons UK. A Prize Draw is already underway. On 29th March 2011 a Dramatised Degree will be carried out by Lodge Union and Crown No 307(Renfrewshire East) in lodge Cadder Freestone’s premises. A Collection will be uplifted on behalf of Parkinsons. If you wish to out more about Parkinsons then you access this via their website.

Later in the year there will be a St Andrew’s Night’ Celebration at which the entertainment will be provided by the Phoenix Choir.

In order to involve more Brethren in our various activities there will be an At Home on Sunday 17th April 2011 for Wardens and prospective Wardens of Lodges.

The Provincial Grand Lodge Passport is proving to be a success and many Brethren are participating in what is really a bit of fun. These passports can be purchased form the Office or Commissioned Office-Bearers.

The website is currently being modernised and made more user friendly. It is all part of our drive to do as much of our administrative work by e-communication and to provide as much information to Brethren as possible for the benefit of the Craft. Lodges are encouraged to use the website to advertise special events, Annual Divine Services etc on our website.

I am delighted to report that in attending Communications, Annual Divine Services etc in our Sister Provinces or on Informal Visits to Lodges I have been very well and enthusiastically supported by Commissioned Office-Bearers, Office-Bearers and Stewards. Our Sister Provinces have commented on these attendances from this Province.

In all my visits to Lodges I have been warmly welcomed and I extend my sincere appreciation for your friendship and support.

I continue to assure of my commitment to taking this Province forward!
