Provincial Grand Master's Diary 2012

 

April 2012

On Sunday 1^st April 2012 along with a Deputation I attended the Annual Divine Service of the Province of Renfrewshire East in Rutherglen West Church.

I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Montefiore No 753 on Monday 2^nd April 2012 along with a Deputation and witnessed an excellent Mark Ceremony.

On Tuesday 3^rd April 2012 I carried out the Annual Visitation to The Union and Crown Lodge Glasgow No 103.

I chaired a Meeting of the Fundraising Committee on Wednesday 4^th April 2012.

I attended the Meeting of the Information and Communications Committee on Tuesday 10^th April 2012.

On Wednesday 11^th April 2012 I attended along with a Deputation the Regular Meeting of Lodge Kenmuir, Springburn No 570 and witnessed an excellent Fellowcraft Degree conferred by Lodge St John Kilwinning, Largs No 173. The Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire accompanied the Deputation.

I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Galen, Glasgow No 1285 along with a Deputation on Thursday 12^th April 2012 at which Meeting Brother William C. Shepherdson delivered a very interesting Paper on Masonic Publications.

On Friday 13^th April 2012 I attended the Regular Meeting of my Mother Lodge.

On Monday 16^th April 2012 accompanied by a large Deputation I carried out a Ceremony of Rededication to mark the 50^th Anniversary of Lodge Easterhouse No 1591.

I attended the Annual Dinner of the Past Senior Provincial Grand Wardens on Wednesday 18^th April 2012.

On Thursday 19^th April 2012 I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Buchanan No 1419 in Balfron and was invited to join the Deputation from the Province of Stirlingshire headed by their Provincial Grand Master.

Along with Brothers Dr Trevor Stewart and Charles Winston on the morning of Friday 20^th April 2012 I visited Lodge Biggar Free Operative No 167 as part of the ongoing work of the SMMG and met with a representative of the regional Archives of South Lanarkshire Council.

I visited Brother John H G Paton PM 1329 in the Mansion house Unit on Tuesday 24^th April 2012.

On Thursday 26^th April 2012 I attended a Meeting of Grand Committee.

I headed a Deputation to my Mother Lodge St John Whiteinch 683 on Friday 27^th April 2012 when St Lawrence Lodge No 6042(EC) exemplified the Fellowcraft Degree.

I delivered a Talk at the Inter Faith Museum, St Mungo Museum, Glasgow about Freemasonry on Sunday 29^th April 2012; in the evening along with a Deputation I attended the Annual Divine Service of the Province of Lanarkshire Middle Ward in Uddingston.

I attended a General Committee Meeting of my Mother Lodge on Monday 30^th April 2012.

March 2012

On 2^nd March 2012 along with a number of Office-Bearers I attended the Annual Communication of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Lanarkshire Middle Ward in Cambuslang.

I attended the Annual Meeting of the Thistle Lodges which was held in Lodge Thistle No 87 accompanied by several Office-Bearers on Saturday 3^rd March 2012.

Along with a large Deputation I attended the Annual Divine Service of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Stirlingshire in Bannockburn on Sunday 4^th March 2012.

Along with the Master of my Mother Lodge I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Oban Commercial No 180 on Thursday 8^th March 2012 at which a 50 Year Diploma was presented to Brother Robert McDonald PM 180.

On Sunday 11^th March 2012 accompanied by a Deputation of Commissioned Office-Bearers, Elected Office-Bearers and Stewards I attended the Annual Divine Service of Lodge Cadder Freestone No 1584.

After chairing a Fundraising Committee Meeting on Monday 12^th March 2012 I carried out the annual Visitation to Lodge Easterhouse No 1591.

I was present at the Final of the John Adam Whist Competition on 15^th March 2012.

Accompanied by several Brethren I attended the Installation of the Provincial Grand Master of Renfrewshire East on Saturday 17^th March 2012 in Johnstone and proposed the Toast to the Province.

On Monday 19^th March 2012 I carried out the Annual Visitation to Lodge Milton No 1520.

I carried out the Annual Visitation to Lodge Tollcross No 1194 on Thursday 22^nd March 2012.

I attended the Meeting of the Royal Order on Monday 26^th March 2012.

Along with other Brethren I attended the Installation of the Provincial Grand Master of Dunbartonshire on Saturday 31^st March 2012 in Dumbarton and proposed the Toast to the Province.

 

February 2012

 

On Wednesday 1^st February 2012 I attended the Annual Charity Dinner of Lodge St Clair No 362 on which occasion I was presented with a cheque for £200 for our 2012 Appeal.

I attended the Regular Communication of Grand Lodge on Thursday 2^nd February 2012 and the Meeting of Grand Committee earlier on the same day.

On Friday 3^rd February 2012 I attended the Annual Communication of the Province of Renfrewshire West in Greenock

I attended the Installation of Brother Ewan Rutherford as Provincial Grand Master of Edinburgh on Saturday 4^th February 2012 and proposed the Toast to the Province at the Installation Dinner.

I attended the Annual Burns Supper of Lodge Bearsden No 1572 on Monday 6^th February 2012.

I carried out the Annual Visitation to Lodge Clydesdale No 556 on Wednesday 8^th February 2012.

I attended the Regular Meeting of my Lodge on Friday 10^th February 2012 and the Burns Supper which followed.

I attended the Retiral Dinner hosted by the Western District Lodges Association in appreciation of the service given by Brother Rev. William B. Ferguson, MM No 16 to these Lodges.

I chaired a Meeting of the Fundraising Committee on 12^th February 2012.

On Monday 13^th February 2012 I carried out the Annual Visitation to Lodge Blythswood No 817.

I attended a Meeting of the Information and Communications Committee in Edinburgh on Tuesday 14^th February 2012 and the PGL Surgery thereafter.

On Wednesday 15^th February 2012 I attended the Funeral Service of Brother Gavin Sorbie Jnr, PM 570 and PG Steward.

I carried out the Annual Visitation to Lodge Greyfriars No 1221 on Thursday 16^th February 2012.

On Friday 17^th February 2012 I attended a meeting of Glasgow Sovereign Chapter No 11.

On Tuesday 21^st February 2012 along with a large Deputation of Commissioned Office-Bearers and Office-Bearers I attended the Half Yearly Communication of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Kilwinning.

I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge St George, Glasgow No 333 on Wednesday 22^nd February 2012 at which Meeting Lodge Athole No 413 exemplified the 2^nd Degree.

On Friday 24^th February 2012 along with Brothers James McMillan, Substitute Provincial Grand Master and Allan Taylor, Junior Provincial Grand Warden, I attended the Annual Communication of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dumfriesshire in Dumfries.

Along with Brothers John C. McLean, James McMillan, Substitute Provincial Grand Masters and Allan Taylor, Junior Provincial Grand Warden, I attended the Annual Communication of the Province of Stirlingshire in Alva on Saturday 25^th February 2012. On that same evening along with my wife Anne and Brother Andrew Mushet, Substitute Provincial Grand Master and his wife Mags, I attended a Social Evening in Lodge Cadder Freestone No 1584 to mark the 50^th Anniversary of the Lodge.

I was present at the East District Round of the John Adam Whist Competition on Monday 27^th February 2012.

Along with my wife Anne I visited Brother Robert R. Best PPGM in the Royal Infirmary on Tuesday 28^th February 2012.

I attended the February Meeting of the Zodiac Circle on Wednesday 29^th February 2012.

January 2012

On 10^th January 2012 I met with Brothers Warnock and Riddell regarding Visitation procedures.

Along with my wife Anne, Brothers Mackintosh and McMillan, I attended the Glasgow North Support Group Meeting Parkinsons on 11^th January 2012  at which meeting Dr Tilo Kunath Research Project Director Edinburgh University gave a presentation and thanked the Province for their very generous donation.

I was present at the Regular Meeting of Lodge Dramatic No 571 on Thursday 12^th January 2012  on which occasion the Third Degree was conferred on Brother Andrew Walker son of the Junior Warden Brother Andrew Walker PM 571.

On 13^th January 2012 I attended my own Mother Lodge.

I met with Brethren who had agreed to assist with the inspection of Lodge Books and later chaired a meeting of Commissioned Office-Bearers on 17^th January 2012.

On Wednesday 18^th January 2012 I chaired a meeting of the Fundraising Committee.

I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Southern Cross No 1243 on Thursday 19^th January 2012 at which Meeting 14 Reigning Masters exemplified a First Degree.

On Saturday 21^st January 2012 I chaired the Masters’ Dinner in Pollokshields Burgh Hall.

I attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge The Royal Stuart No 1414 on Monday 23^rd January 2012 and presented the Past Senior Provincial Grand Warden’s Jewel which had belonged to my uncle Brother Campbell K S McLachlan PM 1414 to Brother Edward Chamberlain PM 1414, Master 1414, PSPGW Renfrewshire East.

On Wednesday 25^th January 2012 I attended the Zodiac Circle.

I attended the Regular Meeting of my Mother Lodge on Friday 27^th January 2012.

I along with other Brethren attended the Annual Communications of the Provincial Grand Lodges of Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire East and Fife and Kinross on Saturday 28^th January 2012.

On Monday 30^th January I attended the Meeting of the Royal Order of Scotland.

I chaired the Regular Communication of Provincial Grand Lodge on Tuesday 31^st January 2012.
