FROM THE EAST

Summer has come on strong and the heat and humidity has set in.  I hope this finds everyone well and enjoying this summer season.

It has been a busy first half of this Lodge year.  We have raised a new Master Mason and have visited and assisted other Lodges, in and out of our District, with several degrees.

In April, a group of Masons from the 1st and 3rd Districts traveled to Maryland for a Masonic visit.  They toured the Grand Lodge Temple in Hunt Valley, Maryland and the Scottish Rite Temple in Baltimore.  They had the opportunity to participate in a Third Degree at Esdraelan Lodge 176 in Cardiff, Maryland.  This is the Lodge that initiated me into Masonry and took me through the three degrees.  It was an enjoyable and educational experience for all.

In my last Trestle board I wrote about the Perseverance Lodge website.  We are giving it a try and would love to have you visit it and see what is happening.  It has several pictures, a business calendar, and several other pages of interest to our members. The Perseverance website is: www.mastermason.com/perseverance59.

I also wrote about the Lodge email address.  I haven’t gotten a very good response with email addresses, so I will try again.  If you have not been receiving email notifications, please forward your email address to Perseverance59@gmail.com.  This will save me some money on postage and paper when sending out this newsletter.

Have a happy and safe summer.  Come visit us at the Lodge!

TRESTLEBOARD

A pancake breakfast will be held at the Lodge Saturday June 12 at 8:00 AM.  If you plan to attend please call Brother Harrison Phelps by Thursday, June 10 so we can have an adequate supply of pancakes and sausage for your eating pleasure.

The next 3rd District meeting will be held June 12 at Orr Lodge in Washington, North Carolina.  Please contact a Lodge officer if you would like to attend.  We won the attendance plaque at the District Meeting we hosted and would love to keep it here. We need your attendance to make that happen.  The meeting will begin with a meal at 7:00 PM and a business meeting and fellowship after.  This is not a tiled Lodge and is very informal.  Please come and visit with old friends and make some new ones!

Saint John’s Day will be celebrated this year on June 26 at the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford.  They have several tours planned and food will be available.  If you would like to visit the Home on Saint John’s Day please contact a Lodge officer.

Perseverance Lodge will be hosting a Lodge cookout for members, honorary members, their families, and guests.  Heck, if you aren’t a member and would like to come, give us a call to let us know how many you will be bringing so we can have adequate vittles.  This will be a “Bring a Friend” event.  You are welcome to bring someone you feel may have an interest in Masonry and would like an informal introduction.  We will have entertainment during the evening.  Crossroads will be performing for us.  In token of friendship and brotherly I cordially invite you to this event.

Perseverance Lodge holds its stated communications on the first and third Tuesday of each month.  We open the Lodge at 7:30 PM.  It would mean so much to us if you could come see us and join in the fraternal bonding that we enjoy.
