THE SCHOFIELD HOUSE
|
Mooresville started the year by performing their first Entered Apprentice Degree for 2008 at the Historic Schofield House in Madison, Indiana. The Schofield House was the birth place for Indiana Freemasonry. On January 12, 1818, fourteen Freemasons gathered on the second floor and chartered the first five lodges (Vincennes #1, Madison #2, Charlestown #3, Lawrenceburg #4 and Corydon #5) and elected Alexander Buckner as the first Grand Master of Indiana. The Schofield House is now operated and maintained by the Masonic Heritage Foundation and is available for tours from April Through October. |
