LEONARDO T. PAÑARES LODGE
HISTORY OF THE EMBLEM

The seal of Leonardo T. Pañares Lodge No. 220 came about in the year 1987. It was then, when the late VW Manuel R. Samson, PDDGM introduced the concept of coming out with a 5-year Development Plan for the lodge. I was indeed fortunate and privilege for being a part of the 5-year Development Plan of the lodge - "Membership Growth, Lodge Masonic Education and Lodge Management". So in short, the concept of the lodge seal is basically attributed to VW Manny Samson and his close-in brothers who have extended to him the immense support he needed at that time.

The image of persons or people in the left aide of the seal represents the "Membership Growth" of the lodge wherein targets are being set out as to how many petitioners - may eventually come in and become master masons (without sacrificing quality) .
The image on the right side is a "Pillar" representing "Masonic Education" As we have   experienced, there are some brethren after having been raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason remain to be in the dark about the real meaning of freemasonry. While this is but normal in a manner of speaking, our lodge came up with a program called “Project Mind". Our organization takes pride as the premiere lodge in conceptualizing and adopting this program, wherein a battery of well knowledgeable brethren are designated as speakers during the orientation of candidates until they become full-pledged master masons. Part of the program was a refresher course for master masons who failed to undergo or have insufficient learning during such orientation. If you ask me why it is called project "MIND"?  It simply means MASONIC INSIGHTS for NEW DISCOVERIES. Even before the Grand Lodge came up with up an edict instructing all subordinate lodges to conduct a 15 minutes Masonic Education every stated meeting, our lodge have already been conducting one coming from very competent speakers as far as way back in the early 90's, ranging from our “oldest” member - VW Tom R, Garcia to our youngest member Bro. Cedric Cabardo.

The three gavels as reflected in the lower portion of the seal represent "Lodge Management". Lodge Management as we all know is one of the important factors why members may find themselves involved, committed and dedicated to the affairs of the lodge. Our lodge takes pride again in planning its activities for every Masonic Year. From scheduled ex-com meetings where plans and decisions are being “hatched”, to family togetherness, from lodge visitation of sister lodges to outreach medical programs, honoring of past masters and lodge memorials, from seeking the wisdom of the lodge advisers, to monthly celebration of birthdays and wedding anniversaries. Even the creation of the conferral teams and the monthly publication of The Eagle are being elaborately taken up during the excom.  Modesty aside, it is of my opinion that LTP 220 shines in excellence on the matter of Lodge Management.

And lastly, the 22 Red Rays at the circumference of the seal represents the 22 members of LTP who in one way or the other contributed to the birth of a Five Year Development Plan for the lodge.  First and foremost of course,  - VW Manuel R. Samson,  VW Tom Garcia, WB Jim Borja, WB Jefferson Soriano, VW Raul Cabalang, VW Jose A. Fuentes II, Bro. Cesar J. Lapid, WB Edgar P. Borje, VW Edilberto P. Cabardo, WB Arnold Duterte, VW Alan E. Fernan, Bro. Ricardo E. Gabaon, Bro. Eugene P. Lima, WB Albert Y. Yu, WB Sigfred M. Maagad, the late Bro. Sixto Morales, VW Abelardo F. Plaza Jr., VW Ike Saab, WB Rogelio Tirona, WB Eric P. Sagario, Bro. Manning Verendia, Bro. Vic S. Tan, WB Dave Espancho and to those whose names have temporarily slip my memory.
Thus my brother, is the meaning and significance of the seal of our beloved lodge as far as I can remember.
