Jackson Masonic Lodge #45

Jackson, Tennessee

Archive Project

In January of 2005, the Jackson Lodge #45 F&AM began a project to benefit the community at large by making available via micro-film, the historical records of the Lodge, lawful to be written. The Jackson Lodge #45 was chartered in 1823 and was the first institution of its kind in West Tennessee. Therefore, this material is a rich deposit of historical and genealogical data about the West Tennessee area and its people, many of whom were influential in the establishment of the City of Jackson and surrounding community.

This project is in conjunction with the Jackson-Madison County Public Library’s Tennessee Room, the State of Tennessee Archive Department and the Genealogical Society of Utah.  At the conclusion of the initial phase of the project, microfilm copies of this valuable material will be on deposit at the Jackson-Madison County Public Library, the State of Tennessee Archives and the Genealogical Society of Utah for access by historians, genealogists and interested public with the original records retained by the Jackson Masonic Lodge #45.  Future phases of the project include the restoration and preservation of the original records and artifacts with a system of archival storage for future generations.  This will be an ongoing project with subsequent year’s information added.
