MARK MASTER. This degree explains the manner in which the operative craftsmen were known and distinguished in receiving their wages. It teaches us that though we are often misunderstood, underrated and persecuted, the rejected stone may become the head of the corner.

PAST MASTER. The candidate is taught that he must first learn to obey before he can rule, and to govern himself before he can govern others.

MOST EXCELLENT MASTER. The ceremonies refer to the completion and dedication of the Temple. The grateful King Solomon empowers the craft to travel and receive Master's Wages, and to spread Light and Knowledge to the less informed.

ROYAL ARCH. Here we have the actual completion of the Master's Degree. The Temple is destroyed and the Israelites put in bondage. When liberated, they return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple. While clearing away the ruins, many interesting and valuable discoveries were made, chief of which were the recovery of the Lost Masters Word.
