Dan Brown's: The Lost Symbol brings Freemasonry back to pop culture. Click on the book to visit Dan Brown's website.

From Egyptian mythology to Jewish mysticism, Rome and Greece to the druids and the gnostics, Tim Wallace-Murphy exposes a fascinating lineage of hidden mysteries and secret societies, continuing through the Templars, Rosicrucians, and Freemasons to our modern visionaries.

The highly recommended book among brothers is John J. Robinson's: Born In Blood.

Revisit the historical background of Freemasonry from the perspective of The Knights Templar.

Congratulations to recent Euclid Brothers for passing to the degree of Fellowcraft!!

A Message from our Worshipful Master Gary E. Tiedens

Brethren,

It is interesting to note that the three principle tenets of freemasonry are brotherly love, relief and truth.

These are three principles that when consciously practiced on a daily basis are truly transformative. They are the principles that teach us how to give to others, and how we must change in order to become better men.

They are at the core of masonry, and force us to change, and see the world in a different mode and manner:

Brotherly love induces us to regard the whole human species as one family.

This tenet  tells us that we can't be selective in who we like and dislike; we can not like the Christian and hate the Muslim. We can not envy the rich and look down upon the poor. For we are all created by one almighty parent, and all must be treated equally.

Relief - To relieve the distressed is a duty incumbent upon all men but particularly among masons.

This tenet tells us that we absolutely must help those less fortunate than ourselves or who are downtrodden, for in giving of ourselves do we truly learn how to receive.

This tenet should be practiced, especially during these trying times of economic hardship when so many have so little.

Truth is a divine attribute and the foundation of every virtue.

Without truth there can be no other virtues. Everything else becomes a house of cards that is easily destroyed by the merest whisper of the wind. This is the foundation upon which all other virtues are erected, and come from.  For when we can look ourselves squarely in the mirror can we stand upright in our several stations before God and man.

"Whatever games are played with us, we must play no games with ourselves, but deal in our privacy with the last honesty and truth."
Ralph Waldo Emerson,

Euclid Lodge Brothers Run in the 10th Anniversary Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run

Bro. George Joseph, Bro. Kyle Nurge, and Bro. Dave Cassiere are pictured above at the left just prior to the start of the Run in Red Hook, Brooklyn.  To the right, FDNY officers cheer for the runners and display banners of their fallen Brothers.

On September 11th, firefighter Stephen Siller had just gotten off the late shift at Squad 1, Park Slope, Brooklyn.  He was on his way to play golf with his brothers on that bright clear day when his scanner told of the first plane hitting the Twin Towers.  When he heard the news, he called his wife Sally to tell her he would be late because he had to help those in need.  He returned to Squad 1 to get his gear, then took his final heroic steps to the World Trade Center.  When Stephen drove his truck  to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, it was already closed to traffic .  With sixty pounds of gear strapped to his back, he ran through the Tunnel, hoping  to meet up with his own company, Squad 1.  Tragically, Stephen lost his life when the towers collapsed. He left behind a wife and 5 children.

Since 2002, the brothers of Stephen Siller started an annual run to honor all the victims of 9/11 by retracing his brother's footsteps from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to Ground Zero. The Brothers of Euclid Lodge and over 30,000 runners came out for the 10th anniversary run.  All proceeds from the event are donated to National Burn Centers and various disabled veteran funds.

Flag Poles return to Euclid Lodge!

On September 16th, 2011 during the first Regular Communication after the Summer season the Brethren of Euclid Lodge #136 of F.&A.M. led by Worshipful Master Jose Perez returned old glory to its rightful place.  Accompanying the U.S. flag is the POW/MIA, Masonic Square and Compass, and a 10 year anniversary flag remembering September 11th, 2001.

After a few months of planning Euclid Lodge raises two new flag poles. Historically, Euclid Lodge had a single flag pole erected on the corner of Division Ave and the Boulevard dating back as far as the 1920's.  Due to overgrowth from surrounding trees the flag pole was temporarily removed. A plaque still remains from the original flag pole dedicated in the late 1920's and is located in the center of a group of shrubs.  The new flag poles are located just a few feet from the original .

After a few months of planning the idea of raising two new flag poles became a reality in early August 2011.  Worshipful Master Jose Perez was the overseer of this project and followed it to completion.
