Lodge Duyfken
follows the British concept of Twilight Lodges - tyling at 5.30pm, conducting the meeting,
honouring the usual loyal toasts, and then retiring to a previously
chosen restaurant with family and guests for the evening meal.
The aim is to
accommodate, among others, those businessmen and busy men who have a
limited amount of available time, and who are then able to attend Lodge
directly from their work place in their normal work attire. ( minimum:
slacks, shirt and tie. )
The primary place of meeting is in the air conditioned Masonic Centre
in Cairns. However the Lodge has a travelling warrant, allowing it to
conduct meetings throughout the various locations within the
jurisdiction, consequently enabling the members to meet with a larger
number of their brethren throughout the district.
The Lodge encourages the members to invite their family and guests to
join with them for the evening meal, and invites a guest speaker at the
Lodge's expense, to address them on some interesting and informative
subject.
The Lodge meets five times a year, one of which is an Installation
meeting.
