My Brothers, Fraternal Greetings from Cincinnati Lodge No. 3 of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey's 11th Masonic District! Below is the text of a document that has hung in our Lodge for many years that may be of interest to you. It will aper on our webpage as soon as it is published to the web. I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds by sharing it with you:

During the winters of 1779-80 and 1780-81, George Washington was in Morristown with the encampment of the Continental Army. Among the soldiers from the Connecticut Line and a few from the Pennsylvania Brigade were men who belonged to the Society Of Cincinnati. These men were members of a military Lodge named American Union Lodge. The Society was named after the Roman Leader Cincinnatus who was thrice called from his estates to lead Rome out of  difficulty. The farmer-soldiers had left their plows to fight for freedom. As most armies are comprised of young men, it is well taken that some of these men married girls from the surrounding country, as the Encyclopedia Britannica states that men who had migrated from the northern counties of New Jersey in 1788 established the town of Cincinnati, Ohio. They had followed the call of Jonathan Heart who presided many times over American Union Lodge here, and who had gone a few years before to the fertile valleys of the Ohio River and established the town of Marietta. It is only natural that when this Lodge was founded in 1803 it was named Cincinnati, as its first members in establishing the Lodge were also members of the Society of Cincinnati.

Gentlemen it's nice to know there are over 22 lodges in Cincinnati itself. I would like to know under which grand lodge does it function. I am a brother from the Lodge Sohrab Daver No. 113, Grand lodge of India. I may be coming to Cincinnati in future and would like to attend a meeting there.

with fraternal greetings

Nicely designed but officers need to be updated to 2000-2001. A listing of Past Masters would also be a nice feature. How about a listing of prominent members, living and deceased, like Potter Stewart? What about mentioning the Lodge won the Grand Master's Award for 2000-2001-perhaps scan the certificate in for display? How about indicating the amount of dues and fees for Degrees and who to contact for a petition? P.Travis, Past Master

Greetings from the Officers and Brethren of King Edward Lodge #93 located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I enjoyed my visit to your electric lodge, it is motivating to see the growth of Freemasonry on the internet. Visit the King Edward site when you have the time, and while your there consider applying for the King Edward Lodge 2001 Award.
