Past Master’s MM Degree Night:  Our Master Mason’s Degree will not take place as originally scheduled.  However- we do have upcoming Degree work, so the Past Master’s night will take place depending on the candidates.  Stay tuned!

From the East:

As summer gives way to fall, we are still carrying on momentum to finish up our Masonic year strong.  September reminded us of new beginnings and time honored traditions.  We hosted our District Inspirational with our Most Worshipful Barry Rickman bringing the keynote address.  Junior Warden Chris Greer and his group of Doug Melton and Mike Lambert prepared shrimp and grits for our meal and was a big success!  We next had our building re-dedication with the ceremonious laying of the cornerstone.  We had 138 in attendance that Saturday morning.  Most Worshipful Barry Rickman presided as Grand Lodge and Cayce Lodge were open in due form.  Once again Chris Greer prepared a delicious meal of Beaufort Stew.  It was a significant day in the history of our lodge.

Brothers your lodge voted at the September business meeting to purchase an automated phone calling tree.  You should have been receiving your communications by phone call.  Brothers, we feel this will facilitate our efforts to provide the membership timely announcements.  This method will also allow us to keep the brothers up to date concerning work.  Our goal is to provide at least one announcement weekly regarding upcoming work and events.  Brother Dave will be sending a request for updated phone information along with the Dues’ notices.   Brothers please provide us with the latest numbers to get in touch with you.  And remember, if you want to get messages at work, or home or cell number, provide all three if you like.  We will only be good as the information given.

(editor note:  Please also include your current e-mail address, as we are attempting to create a database to serve YOU- as well as serve the Lodge.  js)

Brothers as this year is quickly coming to a close, we have two more special events to keep in mind.   The first is Friday, November 13th.  This will be our annual all you can eat pancake supper.  Tickets will be $7.00 and we will be serving coffee, juice, pancakes, bacon and sausage.  Ours will be 5:30 – 8:30.  The next annual event scheduled is Ladies Night.  This will be held on Thursday, December 10th.  We will be having comedienne Cherry Nettles, The Lady in Red, as our guest entertainer.  Piggie Park will cater and we will be having beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, string beans and banana pudding.

Brothers keep the rest of the year open for your lodge.  We have tried not to interfere with weekends, Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.

Also, as the end of the year approaches, we must turn our attention to the election of officers.  Men you know how important this is, so please make it your Masonic business to attend theses last month’s meetings to ensure the continued success of Cayce Lodge.

 See you in the lodge,

 Charlie Dunlap - WM

From the West:

Greetings from the West brothers, first of all I would like to thank all the brethren who participated in the work day and a special thanks to brother Patrick Stamps who brought in his heavy equipment to take care of that stump clump along the 12th street side of the Lodge. The other thing is for the wonderful cornerstone setting of our beloved Lodge.  The Grandmaster was very pleased and very proud to rededicate his own Lodge. Special thanks to the brethren who cooked for the Cayce bluegrass festival and made it possible to participate in the community.

Ron Horbal, SW

From the South:

To all of my brothers of Cayce Lodge 384 I encourage each and every one of you to join us for fantastic meals and fellowship on Monday nights.  It is definitely an exciting time at Cayce Lodge right now with new brothers coming in and some other brothers returning to the lodge that couldn’t be there before.   There seems to be a renewed sense of excitement about the lodge and that is something we can and should continue to build on.  We average about 25 members per meeting including officers and I know that we can do better.  Cayce Lodge is known for the quality of work that is put on and we would like for everyone to be able to take pride in that.  So once again I encourage everyone to come out and get involved anyway you can (“without material injury to yourself or family” of course) and help us continue this prideful tradition that our brothers and Past Masters before us have established.

I also would like to thank all of the Brothers that helped prepare meals for the inspirational meeting and the cornerstone/rededication ceremony:  Jerad Dunlap, Charlie Dunlap, Mike Lambert, Doug Melton, Mark Pridgen, and Wayne Wright.  If I forgot anyone I’m sorry, but those are the names that stick out.  Any other brother that may have helped thank you was well.  It takes a lot of work to prepare for a meal for 100 or more people and your hard work should not go unnoticed.  Thank you.

We are going to have a Pancake Supper in November and Brother Tommy Rivers and I could use some help with that as well.  If you are able to help or have past knowledge about how much to buy or what to buy please give me a call @ 803-920-5724.

Menu for November Business meeting:

Chili and Beans w/ Jalapeņo cornbread (or regular cornbread)

We will have rice, cheese, sour cream and Texas Pete on the side

Tea or Water

Dessert TBA

 Chris Greer, JW

DUES NOTICES/ CONTACT INFO:

Brothers, please return your dues promptly, and be sure to include your updated information how you would like to be contacted about Lodge events & news.

(Ladies & friends- you too- let us know!)

WE WANT YOU TO BE INVOLVED!!!

Cayce Lodge was in attendance at the 2nd Annual Congaree Bluegrass Festival Oct. 3rd.   Brother Mark Hanslip spearheaded this effort for the lodge.  We sold fried pork skins and sold out by 2:30 that afternoon!  Good job Brother Mark in getting us out with the community and making our presence known.   -CD, WM

 From Brother Mark Hanslip:

The Bluegrass Festival was a great success. We spoke with several people interested in Masonry and several brothers who have not seen a lodge room in years. Our pork skins were a big hit. We sold out our entire 10 pound stock in 3.5 hours. We will double that for next year.

About 15 brothers came down to the festival to help with loading, transporting, cooking, selling and cleanup. I appreciate the efforts of every brother that made it down to help. We could not have made it happen without them. Special thanks to Dick Adams (son-in-law of Willie Floyd) for doing the cooking.
