Grand Lodge Decisions on Appeal 48. Initiation of a Hindu.
June 6, 1866.-The District Grand Lodge of
Bengal had a by-Law which provided that no Asiatic should be initiated
without a special reference to the District Grand Master. In the
case which came before Grand Lodge the Worshipful Master initiated
a Hindu candidate without waiting for the result of - such reference.
The District Grand Master deposed the Worshipful Master, and placed
the Lodge in charge of the Senior Warden; the Worshipful Master
in his turn placed the Lodge in abeyance, so that no meetings
were held. For this the District Grand Lodge expelled him, and
he appealed, with success.
