 Revolutionary Patriot. Lt. Col. "Heard's Brigade" 1776, later of the First Bn., New Jersey Continental Line. Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court 1779-1789. The first R.W. Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of' New Jersey 1786-1790. The first person selected to be a delegate to the First Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia, July, 1787. A signer of the Constitution of the United States, September 17, 1787. The first Federal Judge of' the U.S. District Court 1789-90. Member of' the Convention that set forth and ratified the Book of Common Prayer of' the Protestant Episcopal Church in the U.S.A. on October 16, 1789.
