Richard Stockton 
(1730-1781)

Revolutionary Patriot. Delegate to the First and Second Continental Congress at Philadelphia 1774 & 1775. Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court 1774-76, Chief Justice 1776-81. Colonel and Inspector of the Northern Army 1776. A Signer of The Declaration of Independence August 2, 1776. Died of privation as a result of his patriotic actions, and is buried in an unmarked grave. Brother of Samuel W. Stockton.
