SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Illinois Masonic Scholarship application
is an integral part of a program that the Grand Lodge of A. F. & A. M. of
GENERAL INFORMATION
To qualify, the applicant/student must reside
in the State of
The scholarship will be granted for one year
only and will continue as long as the recipient is enrolled as a full-time
student (14 semester hours or more) in an accredited institution of higher learning.
However, it will be terminated at the end of the semester during which the
recipient’s average is not a B or higher. It may also be terminated if the
recipient changes institutions of his/her program without notification to the
Grand Lodge.
The scholarship may be renewed provided the
recipient submits a new application for the ensuing academic year.
Scholarship checks will be
forwarded to the student’s college or university to be credited to his/her
account. A check payable to the institution in the amount of $500 will be
forwarded in August. A second check for $500 will be forwarded upon receipt of
a copy of the student’s transcript verifying continued eligibility. It shall be
the student's responsibility to have his/her transcript forwarded to the scholarship
chairman.
This application, official high school or
college transcript, letters of recommendation, and other data must be received
by April 1 in the year for which the application is made. The aforementioned documents
shall become the property of the Grand Lodge of A. F. & A. M. of
The Grand Lodge Scholarship will be awarded at
the discretion of the Scholarship Committee at its June meeting and will be
awarded without regard to race, gender, religion, age or handicap. The committee,
however, will consider the Masonic relationship and financial need to an
applicant and his/her family. The father, grandfather, brother, or uncle of an
applicant must be a Master Mason in good standing or, if deceased, have been a
Master Mason in good standing at the time of death.
