The Ziyara Oriental Band represents Ziyara Temple at numerous parades throughout Central New York. Our parade season runs from May through the first part of September. No special musical training is needed to belong to the band. The main instrument is a Musette with a tone close to an oboe. The other instruments are mainly percussion, such as: bongo drums, base drums, cymbals and tambourines. There is also a glockenspiel, which is used on some occasions.

The costume worn is of an Oriental nature and can be easily acquired. The float on which the band rides during a parade is decorated with various Shrine symbols.

At various times before a parade, a short business meeting may be held. A banquet is usually held in the spring, before the parade season and again in the fall after the Parade season. The Band never charges to participate in a parade.

If you'd like more information about this fine unit please contact the Ziyara Office or one its officers.
