The purpose of Ziyara’s Degree Team is to portray the ritual forms and ceremonies of the Mystic Shrine to new candidates during either the Hot Sands or Cold Sands Ceremonials.

The Mystic Shrine, like the prerequisites to membership, presents to its candidates a ritualistic degree to teach an important lesson. The degree portrays a pilgrimage across the dessert to the city of Mecca. The lessons that are taught in the degree of Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine include tolerance for all religious beliefs and the importance of aiding those less fortunate, especially children.
