On this day in 1987, the Chrysler Corporation purchased the Nuova-Automobili F Lamborghini, the Bologna, Italy based maker of the high priced, high performance, cars. It was reported that Chrysler paid $25 million, at a time when Chrysler was having financial difficulties. The Chrysler Corporation was owned by Mason Walter Perry Chrysler who was born on April 02, 1875 in Wamego, Kansas. He was a member of Apollo Lodge #297 in Ellis, Kansas. He entered the celestial Lodge on August 18, 1940.

Future Mason and President James Buchanan was born on this day in 1791 in Cove Gap near Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.

On this day in 1975 Mason and President Gerald Ford made a speech at Tulane University saying that the Viet Nam War was finished as far as America was concerned.

Truman gave Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov a stern talking to as to the lies that the soviets had told in breaking their agreements and that Stalin needed to keep his word. The President was convinced that a tough stance needed to be taken against the Soviet Union. Such a stance by the United States began the Cold War policies against the Soviet Union.
