Recorder: GARY DEMOSS P.P. Lady: BECKY

Ill. Sir Gary DeMoss is proud to be a third generation Shrine-Mason. Gary began his Masonic experience in 1973 where he was raised to the degree of Master Mason in Joppa Lodge #666 then becoming a member of the Valley of Akron, Scottish Rite, Cuyahoga Falls Council #144, Chapter #225, Commandery #83, Temple Guard, Krazy Kops and ROJ Court #80.

Gary is a second generation potentate here at Tadmor, following his father’s lead, Ill. Sir Courm "CC" DeMoss who served as Potentate in 1972.

Gary was appointed to the Divan in 1996 by then Ill. Sir Crinley Hoover as the Second Ceremonial Officer and them became Potentate in 2002

Recently retired from a 36 year career in law enforcement in the Village of Silver Lake, 17 years serving as the police chief, it was easy to understand his theme for 2002: "To Serve and Protect". Serving and protecting others in a life style, especially children, according to Gary.

Gary and his Lady Becky live in Bath Township and have two adult children: Lyndsey, who teaches school and lives in Akron and son Noble Jason who, like his grandfather, is in the car business and lives in Cuyahoga Falls.

Hobbies include traveling, camping, working on projects at home and enjoying their involvement in the old car hobby, especially if it has something to do with a Corvair.

Treasurer: STUART SPANGLER Lady: Judy

Beginning his Masonic life in 1980 at Wm. Hoover Lodge, North Canton, Stuart joined Tadmor in 1981 and the Drum Corps. in 1982.  He often says, “The only thing better than watching a Shrine parade is being in one!”  In the Drum Corps, he learned to play trumpet which led to being its Secretary, President and Director.  His favorite memories of the Corps’ years are of the close friends that worked on the famous “Gong Shows”--”unbelievable” was the only word to discribe them.

In 1991, as Shrinews Editor, the big project was to convert it from “cut ‘n paste” paper to a digital publication.  This three and a half month project produced both more timely editions and cost reductions.  Over the next five years, the new look and feel won “Honorable mention” awards among all 195 Shrine news publications.  The key is that it was fun to read and frequently had “your picture” in it.

At the request of the 1998 Potentate, Stuart joined the reconstituted Finance Committee and later became its chairman unit 2002.  Its charge was to advise the Potentate and Divan of financial conditions, budgets and forecasts.  At the direction of Treasurer Jim Ohlinger, its major focus was to work to a balanced budget and make “cash flow” more visible to the Nobility.

On the personal side, Stuart and his wife Judy just celebrated their 25th anniversary and Stuart completed 41 years with Goodyear Tire and Rubber’s Engineered Products Division.  His career at Goodyear consisted of various sales territories and positions in Sales, Marketing and Training,  Now, as retirement is imminent he hopes that will mean more golf, community service and grandchildren time.
