The tournament is a wonderful way to fellowship with other Master Masons, enjoy good food, and help a member of the Order of the Rainbow for Girls with her college expenses. Pledge Girls are between the ages of 7 and 10 Rainbow Girls are between the ages of 11 and 21 Current members attend Lexington, Brookland-Cayce, Airport, and Richland Northeast High Schools and Northside Middle School. West Columbia Assembly will have a Green Area Official Visit was on Saturday, March 6th, 2010 at 2:00pm. This is the official visit of the Supreme Inspector and Grand Worthy Advisor. The Grand Worthy Advisor (Sister Jenna Cascio) is a member of West Columbia Assembly. A reception will follow this meeting. West Columbia Assembly will have Installation of Officers on February 9 - 7:00 p.m. The Grand Assembly of South Carolina, International Order of the Rainbow, Scholarship Committee had their golf tournament on Saturday, October 4 at the Fort Jackson Golf Course. West Columbia Assembly's 4th Annual Fall Bazaar was on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Cayce Masonic Lodge, 1701 12th Street Ext. from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m. The bazaar featured local crafters and vendors. Admission is free. The Grand Assembly of South Carolina, International Order of the Rainbow, Scholarship Committee had their golf tournament on Saturday, October 4 at the Fort Jackson Golf Course. Rainbow's Rays Historically, the Rainbow represented God's promise that He will never again destroy the world by flood. This beautiful promise is reflected by seven colors. In Rainbow, each color represents a moral teaching. Love of others, devotion to religion, respect for nature, awareness of immortality, importance of fidelity, patriotic loyalty, and dedication to service are the key virtues taught by Rainbow along with the solid truths of faith, hope and charity. Rainbow is proudly sponsored by the Masonic Fraternity, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth, and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. The fraternal family provides a network of support to Rainbow girls. Girls ages 11-20 who are recommended by a member of Rainbow or its sponsoring organizations is eligible for membership. Become a Rainbow girl in your local assembly and receive the gift of a lifetime. Fun and Friends "Girls just wana have fun!" That's why the International Order of Rainbow Girls provides many opportunities for girls to have fun and make new friends. Sleepovers, cookouts, swimming parties, bowling or movie outings, dances, and Christmas caroling are only a few of the many social events that girls find to do. With Rainbow girls, even meetings and road trips are instantly turned into fun times and the bonds formed are so close that they last a lifetime. In Rainbow, girls aren't just friends; they are sisters! Our Legacy The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls began on April 6th, 1922. The Founder, Christian Pastor W. Mark Sexson wrote a Ritual based on teachings from the Holy Bible. Rainbow does not require its members to be Christians, but it encourages church involvement. Rainbow is primarily a service organization, which builds character, self-confidence, leadership, and public speaking skills in young women all over the world. Rainbow girls learn how to cooperate as part of a team and conduct meetings with proper business procedure. Members also have many opportunities to travel across the state and country to visit Rainbow sisters. In addition to service projects and meetings, we always make room in the schedule for some fun! Our unique qualities allow us to provide girls with opportunities not found anywhere else. Come Join our legacy and make a difference! Involvement Rainbow Girls are initiated into a local assembly. This is a special ceremony for members, parents, grandparents, and sponsoring adults. Business meetings are held twice a month where girls plan upcoming events. Each girl is selected to serve as an officer in the assembly and recite the corresponding lecture. Installations are held twice a year. This is a formal ceremony often open to the public where the girls are installed into new offices. An Official Visit is an annual local meeting where the assembly performs it ceremonies for state leaders and members. Dedicated girls may also be selected to serve as an officer or representative on the state level. Every state has an annual Grand Assembly where local assemblies compete in talent, choir, ritual, Southern Belle, scrapbook, and banner competitions. Girls are encouraged to attend as many events as possible. The more a sister participates in Rainbow, the more benefits she will receive from it. Imagine the possibilities and come receive the experience of a lifetime. Leadership Rainbow girls learn how to be effective leaders in their assembly and community. One girl each term is elected to lead the assembly as "Worthy Advisor." The girls will conduct business, encourage their sisters, plan projects and activities, and learn to cooperate with others. Rainbow also teaches responsibility and punctuality. Rainbow girls learn proficient public speaking skills. These characteristics allow Rainbow girls to excel in their schoolwork and prepare them for success in their future careers. Fundraising Each assembly holds at least two fundraisers per year to generate revenue for the assembly and alleviate Grand Assembly or travel expenses for members. Proceeds may also go to local charities or international programs such as the disaster relief fund. State fundraisers are also held for the state charity project and the scholarship fund. Rainbow girls pursuing higher education are eligible to receive state scholarships to help with their expenses. Service Service is the foundation of our order. Rainbow girls learn the importance of serving others. Assemblies choose which organizations they will serve during that year. These can include the Ronald McDonald house, Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, holiday baskets for the needy, Shriner's Hospital, SPCA, girls' homes, recognizing Veterans, and so much more. In addition to local projects, the state also has an annual service project. Rainbow leaves a lasting impression on those they serve. It is truly the gift of a lifetime. Contact M.
