| 1.
The Traveling Gavel or Flag may be captured by any visiting Lodge in
the
29th District with 5 or more members and/or candidates present. This
includes
Special and Regular Communications, except when courtesy work is being
done.
2. When more
than two Lodges with five or more members present, the Lodge with the
most
members will capture the flag. If the visiting Lodge is coming to get
their
flag back, five of the visiting Brothers will count for their Flag. For
example, if Conway #65 and Horry #381 both come to Jordanville #297
with
10 Members each, and Jordanville #297 has the Conway #65 Flag, Conway
gets
their Flag back, Horry gets the Jordanville Flag and the Gavel would be
decided by a coin toss.
3. If two or
more Lodges have the same number of members present, the Lodge who
traveled
the greatest distance win the Flag and Gavel if present.
4. The Lodge
holding the Gavel must notify other Lodges they are in possession of
the
Traveling Gavel at Masters and Wardens Club and on the 29th Masonic
District
website.
5. If it is
District work - such as the Instructional, the Inspirational or the
Outdoor
Degree - the Flag or Gavel cannot be captured because everyone is
required
to be there.
6. If a Lodge
goes Dark, they cannot participate in capturing the Gavel during their
Dark months. If they have the Gavel, they must return it to the Lodge
they
captured it from when they go Dark.
7. In the event
that two Lodges travel the same distance and have the same number of
members
present, then a flip of the coin will decide who takes the Gavel or
Flag.
If the Lodge has both the Gavel and their Flag, each visiting Lodge
will
get one. A coin toss will decide who gets which.
8. At the December
Masters and Wardens Club meeting, each Lodge will return all Flags in
their
possession. This way, starting January 1st, Flag capturing can begin
with
the new Master for the new year.
