D.D.G.M. of the 19th Masonic District visits

On July 25th, Person #113 was paid an official visit by Kip Campbell, District Deputy Grand Master of the 19th Masonic District of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina.  After dinner D.D.G.M. Campbell was formally received into the Lodge and proceeded to sit in the East.  At the closing of the Lodge, D.D.G.M. Campbell declared that Masonary was alive and well in Person County.  We couldn’t agree more and we cordially invite the D.D.G.M. back at any time.

Past Masters & Ladies’ Night Banquet

On September 29th the Past Masters and Ladies Night Dinner was held at the Masonic Temple on Leasburg Street.  Past Masters, Masonic Widows, brothers and their families  were treated to dinner prepared by Hog Heaven BBQ.  Brother Raymond Wooten delivered the program on Masons and the Holy Bible and the Reverend Chris Sorensen provided a musical Message.  A special thank you goes to Pat and Reid Tanksley for preparing and decorating the dining hall for the event.  Donations totaling $245 were collected for the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and will be forwarded to the Home for the Holiday Season.

Thanks and Remembrances

Our thanks go to Bros. Jay Nevelle and Frank Moore for removing the graffiti that had been painted on the back of the Lodge building one night in late August.  The other wise harmless juvenile prank was removed with a good power washing.

Please keep in your prayers and thought the families and friends of Bro. Toufielk Ameen for the loss of his daughter Theresa and Bro. Donald Long for the loss of his mother, Mrs. Helen Long.  We wish them both our deepest and sincerest sympathies for their loss.

Please wish a speedily recovery to Bro. Cary Bott from his recent illness and to Bro. Tobie Stone from his recent surgery.

Please keep in mind those brothers who are unable to get out and about.

The 42nd Annual Fish Fry held on May 5th of this year was by all accounts a huge success.  One thousand, four hundred and eighty pounds of flounder were fried and served by the brothers of our Lodge to our community.  The end result of this effort was realized in August when our lodge delivered contributions to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford and the Masonic and Eastern Star Home in Greensboro totaling $5,400.  These contributions, while significant, are but one part of our support of these Masonic Charities.  Each year a contribution is made in the memory of each departed brother to the Children’s Home at Oxford.  Additional contributions are sent at Christmas and at other special times of the year as Masons show their support of our Charities.  This Christmas Season please remember that Charity is one of the foundations of our Fraternity and make a contribution to the Children’s Home or the Masonic and Eastern Star Home.
