I hope everyone had a pleasant Easter. March had us conferring an Entered Apprentice Degree on two Candidates.
I would like to congratulate Brothers JW Jeff Evans and SD Mark Koehler for an excellent job in their Degree Work.
It was the first time for Mark as SD and Jeff as acting Master and they did the Lodge proud.
I am still looking to have a Side Liners Degree before the year is out and already have a few Brothers who have shown an interest in filling parts.
Step up and learn a part and join in the fun.
At our April meeting we voted on two recipients for our annual Scholarships. Both youngsters are definitely deserving and my thanks go
out to the Scholarship Committee for making a difficult choice.
We were presented with a portrait of WM Bob Cape as a Clown by Brother Wayne Carey. It was the wish of Carol Cape that the Lodge have this
and we very much appreciate the gesture and the painting. It seems that we are collecting quite a few items that have been donated
in WM Bob's honor and plan on displaying them with pride.
Our annual Golf Tournament has been set for August 22nd at the newly renovated Founders Club in Pawleys Island. It will be a pleasure to return
to this course and I am looking forward to see what improvements they have made. Most everyone should have forms for players and sponsors in
their emails and they will also be available on the website as soon as I get the time to update it. Let’s make this a successful outing by
getting players and hole sponsors early. It is our major fund raiser of the year and we are running behind in our efforts to raise money so
that we may support our community. In these economic times there is more need for our assistance than ever. A case in point being that there
were eleven applicants for scholarships this year when we normally have only about four. It would have been nice to give out more than the two
that we authorized but we are feeling the pinch of the slow economy just like everyone else.
So Brothers, Help us help others by doing your part.
