Brother Cecil Livingston Collins, PM, receives the first "Master's Mentor" Award

As one of my first acts as Worshipful Master of New Market Lodge, I had decided to begin a new tradition of the incoming Master to give this award to a Brother who has gone, well, above and beyond the call of Brotherhood in Freemasonry.  Brother Collins was one of the first Masons I met at my Entered Apprentice degree.  He became my teacher throughout my degree lectures.  During that time, he not only taught me, but he also became a good friend.  He was interested in my personal life, as well as that of my family, to the point of knowing my daughters by name and things going on in our lives even outside the lodge.  Shortly after I became a Master Mason, my oldest daughter, Rheanna, became ill and was put in East TN Children's Hospital.  He was one of the first to offer prayers for her, as well as the rest of the family.  I am convinced to this day that is what made all the difference in her recovery.  He and I have remained close during my four years so far as a member of this lodge.  He is even the godfather of my youngest daughter, Erin.  During the past couple of years, he has been a true and steadfast friend through a very rough and dark point in my life.  I have no way I could ever repay him for the kindness and unwavering friendship he has offered to me and my family.  Thank you from the dearest part of my heart, Brother!
