「ANDO GALLERY」と「しまぶっく」
午前中に新富町での用事を済ませ、午後になってすぐ、清澄白河のANDO GALLERLY（アンドー・ギャラリー）へ行った。このANDO GALLERLYへ寄ったのは初めてだったが、正直いって、「ショナ・ トレスコット展」はかなり良かった。
どこか懐かしいような気にさせる、外国を描いた風景画。実は、ギャラリーを訪れる前、このページでちらっと見ていたのだが、風景写真だと思い込んでいた。われながら、おっちょこちょいだなぁ（風景写真に見えませんか？）。
「人が馬にまたがっていたり、絵柄が昔を想像させますね」といったことをギャラリーのMさんに言うと、「ショナ・ トレスコットは1982年生まれのオーストラリア出身の女性アーティストで、当初は、オーストラリアの入植時代のことを調べていたようですが、そのうち、そういったことと関係なく、想像でこれらの作品を描くようになったそうです」といった答え。
外国の景色のようなのに、見ていると知っているような気もして、心が落ち着く油彩画。描かれている人の顔などがはっきり見えない分、こちらの想像力もふくらむのかもしれない。
Mさんには、２階のスタッフルームにある中沢研さんの抽象画も見せていただいた。さらに、アンドー・ギャラリーは、R不動産で見つけた倉庫を改装したということで、改装前と改装後のビフォー・ アフター写真が出ているサイトも教えてもらった（それがここ）。
僕には、頭の中のもやもやをスッキリさせてくれそうにも思えた、ショナ・トレスコットの風景画。うちからは自転車で10分もかからないし（いや、そうでなくても）、また伺いたいと思う。
展示スペースの真ん中にある柱のあたりに、センスのいいフラットなソファなんかがあって、そこに座ってひとつひとつゆっくり眺めることができれば心地いいだろうなぁ、なんて考えてしまう。Mさんによれば、12月18日(土)までに会期が延長されたそうなので、みなさんもぜひ。
その後、そこから自転車で３分ほどの「しまぶっく」へ。ここも最寄り駅は同じく清澄白河。ここは、まだできて２カ月くらいの古書店。店主の方にお話をきくと、ABCの六本木店に長く勤めていたそうで、道理でなのか、その方の趣味なのか、並んでいる本がいい感じ。フンデルトワッサーの洋書あり（洋書は古本ではないとのこと）、詩集あり、小沢昭一さんの本あり、時代小説あり、思想書あり、もちろん現代小説や古典もある。
本というのは、今の時代、新刊書以外にはなかなか出会えない感じがするし、大きな書店もアマゾンもそれぞれに魅力的だが、品揃えが多ければ多いで、出会いそびれるというか、目に入ってこなくなってしまう。その意味で、誰かがセレクトしてくれた書店というのはいい。そのセレクトでなければ、おそらく出会うことのできない本というのもあるものだし
。センスのいい、いや、自分とセンスの合うといえばいいか、そんな書店や古書店を僕は待ち望んでいたのかもしれない、と「しまぶっく」を出てから思った。
京都や、東京の中央線沿線にはあるかもしれないけど、目利きによってセレクトされた本屋があちこちにできるといい。売り場面積、冊数、（古書の場合）価格などでは大手にかなわないかもしれないけれど、大きいところの弱みは、「しまぶっく」のような目利きがそれほどいないことだろう。いや、大手にも目利きはいるかもしれないが、たとえば、各店にひとり、各売り場にひとりはいないかもしれない。
忌野清志郎さんの『エリーゼのために』（前に持っていたはず）、中島みゆき詩集、『小沢昭一的こころ』をはじめ、懐かしい本、忘れかけていた本、おもしろい本がたくさんありそうだった。
僕は筒井康隆さんの『残像に口紅を』を購入。これは、五十音が少しずつ世界から消えて行くさまを描いたもので、実際に、文中でも「あ」や「ぱ」や「せ」や「ぬ」が消えていく（つまり、それらの音が含まれている言葉を使わない）というアクロバティックな書き方に筒井さんが挑んでいる。実験的でありながら、エンターテインメントでもあり、20年ほど前に興奮しつつ読んだ記憶が甦り、また入手してみた。うれしい再会だ。同行の妻は『論理哲学論考』（ウィトゲンシュタイン、岩波文庫）、『檸檬』（梶井基次郎、新潮文庫）を手に入れた。
また訪れたいと思える２つのスペースに、たて続けて出会えた、幸運な午後だった。
