Hannibal Scottish Rite Club

Initial Meeting

July 19, 2000

 

                The initial meeting of the Hannibal Scottish Rite Club (to be named later) was held at the Hannibal Masonic Center in Hannibal, MO.  The meeting opened at 7:30p.m. with the following members present:

1.                    Call to order was performed by J.R. Latta acting chairman.

2.                    A motion was made by O.C Latta and seconded by David Priest that we form a Scottish Rite club in Hannibal, MO.  The motion passed.

3.                    A motion was made by Christopher Billups and seconded by O.C. Latta that the club follow “Robert’s Rules of Order.”  The motion passed.

4.                    Nominations were made to decide on a name for the club.  A motion was made by David Priest and seconded by O.C. Latta to name the club the “O.C. Wilson Scottish Rite Club.”  The motion passed.

5.                    Nominations were taken for club officers.  The following people were elected to these offices:

v      Vice President:                                Bill Hart

v      Secretary:                                Christopher Billups

v      Treasurer:                                David Priest

v      Board Members:                Ben Buss, Steve McCann, Donnie Ross

6.                    Establishing a meeting scheduled was tabled until the next meeting.

7.                    A by-laws committee was appointed and consists of:  J.R. Latta, O.C. Latta, Ben Buss, Christopher Billups, and Jeff Asmussen.

8.                    Jeff Asmussen was appointed as our Publicity Chairman.

9.                    It was decided by vote that we hand deliver a letter of introduction to the Valley of Columbia at their next regular four bodies meeting.

10.                 A motion was made by Christopher Billups and seconded by Ben Buss that the club accept the Language Disorders Clinic as our primary program.  The motion passed.

11.                 A vote was taken to establish two transportation programs.  The first being a program through the Marion County Health Department that provides transportation for children to dental offices in the area.  The second program was to provide transportation for veterans to the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, MO.  Both programs were approved.

12.                 Member Input – Dues were discussed and set at $10 / year.  Suggested changes were made for our club letterhead.  The secretary is looking into it.  Jim Haddox discussed some changes going on in the Valley and it’s surrounding bodies.  Our next meeting was set for the 16^th of August in Kirksville, MO at the Shrine Club.  The meeting is to begin at 7:00p.m.  Jeff Asmussen is looking into membership cards.

13.                 Motion for adjournment was made by Christopher Billups and seconded by Jeff Asmussen.  No further business presented the meeting was closed.
