Monster Cent Sale

Visitors to the Cent Sale and their prizes. Part of the large crowd
The Annual Cent Sale held in July was a great success. Many prizes were donated by various business through the efforts of Sister Rosmery Kajewski,Sister Vera Hoare and friend Emily Thorogood. Members also provided prizes for the Cent Sale which helped to swell the number of winners on the day. From the proceeds of the day, Glenmore Chapter was able to make a donation of $1,000 to the Capricorn Helicopter Resque Service. This service recently suffered the loss of its helicopter in a dreadfull accident at Marlborough, whilst on a rescue mission. The pilot, two medical officers, patient and mother of the patient, lost their lives in this tragic accident.

Presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation by Sis Vera Hoare to Emily Thorogood (not a member of the Order) for her tireless work in obtaining donations from Business's in Rockhampton & Gracemere for the Cent Sale.

Star Markets

Glenmore Chapter No 170, Order of the Eastern Star, presented the Queensland Cancer Fund at Rockhampton with a cheque for Breast Cancer Research. The Chapter members have been hard at work through out the year holding the "Star Markets" in the K-Mart carpark in an effort to fulfil one of the Order's aims - to raise money for charity and disaster relief. The Queensland Cancer Fund, Breast Cancer research is not the only organisation to benefit from the Glenmore members' efforts. The Glenmore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star have also raised funds for the Rockhampton Blind Club, Salvation Army Christmas Appeal and the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service in the past twelve months.
