From the East

Greetings Brethren,

I hope everyone had a blessed Easter over the weekend!

I would like to start off by giving a well deserved “Thank You” to the Officers and Brethren of Madison Lodge #221 from West Jefferson; which is also my plural Lodge. On our stated meeting in March, we had 6 members from Madison Lodge show up to make a special presentation to our Lodge. Madison Lodge had recently purchased new officer aprons for their Lodge, and decided to donate their “old” aprons to Farmers Lodge. Notice I stressed “old”, as they are far from that, and appear to be practically new!! These are VERY nice aprons, and we would like to sincerely thank our Fraternal Brothers for their generosity! This kindness is what our Grand Master, MWB Charles R. Murphy’s theme for the year “REACH” is all about! One lodge reaching out to another. Thank you again Brethren!

Also at our stated meeting, Brother Josh Gray returned his MM examination in a VERY fine manner! We also had 2 new petitions turned in and were assigned to the investigative committee. We also received our new officer name badges, which turned out very well. Another big Thank you goes to RWB Wayne Wooten, a PDDGM from the 13th District who made them for us. If anyone is interested in having their own name badge, please see me, and I will get you one ordered.

I appreciate all of you who have traveled over this inspection season, and we are on the home stretch now. Just a few more to go! Be sure to check the “Trestleboard” page for upcoming dates.

We also had our Annual Inspection in the FC Degree on March 14th. I would like to personally thank all of the Officers, and Brethren who put in a lot of hard work and practice preparing for our inspection, and it definitely showed! For those of you who were not able to attend, we had a great inspection and our Candidate, Brother Jon Mills received an excellent degree! Congratulations to all!

Our stated meeting in April was an education one. RWB Donald L. Burdett presented the Grand Lodge Educational Game, and was a lot of fun and also very informative. Brother Joe Cocanour also returned his MM examination, once again in a very fine manner. Well done Brother! We also voted favorable on our 2 newest petitions for Mr. Kyle William Fulton and Mr. Larry Nathaniel Douglas, and scheduled their EA Degrees on Saturday, May 2nd. (see “Calendar” for details)

As I mentioned above, the inspection season is coming to an end, and would be great to show a nice turnout of our members at these last few.

Also, don’t forget that we have the Grand Master’s One Day Class coming up in June. Deadline for petitions to be turned in is May 23rd. If you know of someone who has been interested in joining the Fraternity, but cannot necessarily commit the time to go through the traditional way due to work restraints, etc.. be sure to let them know of this excellent opportunity. This is also a great opportunity for those of you who may have stalled in your work for one reason or another, to get the opportunity to finish your degree work, regardless if you are currently and Entered Apprentice or a Fellowcraft. Remember, there is no memory work required if you desire to go through the One Day Class, as opposed to the traditional way.

Sincerely & Fraternally,

Adam Wilson - Worshipful Master
