About Us:
The
Widows Sons, Masonic Riders Association is
an association of master masons who have
gathered together to promote freemasonry
within the motorcycling community and to
introduce motorcycling to our non-riding
Masonic brethren.
As freemasons we are committed to the
‘brotherly love, relief, and truth’
tenets of our lives, as Widows Sons we are
devoted to supporting widows & orphans
of our Masonic brethren. We hold events and
rides as fundraisers for this noble cause,
and other charitable causes. The chapter is
very diverse with members from various
areas, lodges, and a variety of motorcycles.
There are different levels of membership in
our chapter, to accept non-masons, and even
non-riders in the hopes of educating and
introducing them into these two beloved
interests.
We
are not an appendant body of freemasonry or
the Grand Lodge of Ohio, and do not speak or
act as representatives of freemasonry.
We do however affiliate with other
like-minded persons in the motorcycling
community to demonstrate the fine principles
of freemasonry. We are not a gang, or show
any allegiance to any 1% club.
This is an International Association
of Masons that strives to support our
fraternity while presenting a good
impression to the public while riding. We
are more of a “Masonic booster club” by
supporting our brethren and lodges and
introducing freemasonry to the motorcycling
world, while improving fellowship and
assisting a great cause.
The
logo of the Ohio Widows Sons is the
‘new’ patch adopted by the Northern
Jurisdiction in May 2004. Although large and
very detailed, this logo has much symbolism
to our brethren, and is representative of
our fraternity to the public.
The three sides of the triangle
represent the degrees of traditional blue
lodge masonry, while the three points
represent the burning tapers. The all-seeing
eye reminds us that our thoughts words and
actions are always being observed, and to
respond accordingly.
The square, level and plumb
represents the three principal officers of
the lodge, and is symbolic of our working
tools. The rising sun represents the Master
of the Lodge at the apex of the triangle,
while reminding us the sun never sets on
freemasonry; its light is cast forever to
all points of the globe. The wings
demonstrate personal freedom and liberty,
ideas at the heart of every mason. They also
are a common symbol throughout the
motorcycling community and therefore
demonstrate our heritage. The ‘meet on the
level & part on the square’ remind
everyone that we are masons above all. We wish to be received as such, and hope to overcome any
prejudices and misconceptions of those who
ride motorcycles. This phrase is also
intended to stimulate conversation among
non-masons, thereby providing an opportunity
for our members to explain the great
attributes of the Masonic fraternity.
The color of red for the text reminds
us to be passionate towards Freemasonry, the
Widows Sons, and the motorcycling community,
while the silver embroidery designates us an
affiliated/descendant chapter of the Ohio
Grand Chapter Widows Sons Masonic Riders
Association.
The
Chapter Name “Solomons Sevens” was
adopted as recognition of our Masonic
Heritage and reminds us to act in the
character of our ancient brethren, how the
principles of freemasonry cross all
boundaries, of countries, opinions, and even
time. It also alludes to our charter, as
there were seven members that met on July
07, 2007 at 7 p.m. to found this local
chapter.
During this meeting there were
numerous ‘seven’ occurrences and it was
deemed that this should be remembered for
all time.
The evening was closed with the toast
of a ‘seven and seven’ with seven
straws.
The
Widows Sons Association and Freemasonry in
general are great attributes to any
community and our chapter hopes to assist in
demonstrating the positive influence of
these two groups. We wish to have some fun,
do a lot of riding, and promote and assist
the goals of the freemasonry, our Chapter,
and the Widows Sons Association.
If
you wish to join us, or have been
contemplating masonry or motorcycling we
would be glad to hear from you!.
