W\ Ralph DEWEY (Charter Member) -- Ralph DEWEY, was born June 25, 1820, and came with his parents to Perrysburg in 1829. Oct. 29, 1843, he married Caroline L., daughter of Charles BLACKNEY, one of the earliest settlers in Perrysburg. In 1860 they settled in Otto village, where he owned and operated an iron foundry forty years. Mr. DEWEY is a prominent citizen of his town and a man of high character, a member of the Methodist church, and a staunch Republican. He served his town as supervisor five consecutive terms from 1870 to 1875, and has served as justice of the peace for seven terms,

On the night of January 24th, 1905 the building in which Berean Lodge. No. 811, was located was destroyed by fire, together with the furniture, lights and jewels of said Lodge ; their warrant was also destroyed. This was a severe blow to Berean Lodge, for they were enjoying a beautifully furnished and well-equipped Lodge-room. But the Masonic blood in this district is not slow, and on the morning following efforts were made to secure another meeting place. Jan. 30, Berean Lodge, No. 811, was given permission by the Grand Lodge of New York to continue work in such secure place as may be obtained. Lodge room and charter having been destroyed by fire. A representative was immediately notified of the destruction of their room, and went to Cattaraugus to assist in the location of a meeting place; such arrangements were finally made, and the Lodge continued to hold its regular meetings.
