Trestle-board for December 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, the 2008 Masonic Year has been an exciting one for our lodge. We hit the ground running and haven’t stopped. In January we conducted a MM degree followed a week later with an EA Degree. Each month thereafter we conducted at least one degree a month with most of the degree work being done by our own officers. I want to say “thank you” to all of you who made this year so successful for our lodge; all of you who helped put on degrees, taught catechism, helped with yard work, cleaned the building, worked in the kitchen, etc.

One of the best things about this past year has been all the teamwork that has taken place. We couldn’t have done it without the ladies. A special gratitude of “thanks” goes to the Eastern Star, especially Sisters Carol & Martha, who cooked, helped cook, made tea, serve meals, and decorated. Also thanks to Sisters Maxie Lou & Winona for baking us those good pound cakes during the year.

Since the last Trestleboard we are pleased to welcome Brother Jonathan Hooper who we Initiated EA (at Hide Park Lodge) and then Passed to FC (at Arlington Lodge). On Tuesday, Dec 9th we will be conducting a Master Mason Degree for Brother Hooper and a few others. Dinner at 6 P.M. & Degree at 7 P.M.

Last month we hosted the Community Military & Veterans Appreciation Night, the Annual Past Masters and Widows Dinner, and the Masonic Child-ID Program and OES Yard Sale. All were successful events with the Veterans Day event drawing between 150-200 people to our lodge that night.

Our Lodge Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, Dec 13, 08; at 6 P.M. Santa Clause will be visiting so bring your children and grandchildren. Also please bring a gift for Santa to present to them ($5-10 price range). Bro. Len Lee is cooking. Here is the

Christmas party menu:

  Citrus marinated roasted Turkey

  Homemade cornbread dressing

  Giblet gravy

  Spiral sliced honey glazed Ham

  Green beans Seasoned with Bacon

Mixed greens( Cabbage and Turnip greens)

    seasoned with Ham

  Sweet Potato Casserole topped with

    marshmallows

 Yeast rolls

 Sweet and Unsweet Tea

Sister Martha Royal is back in the hospital and had to have a couple of blood transfusions. Please keep her and Brother Monroe Royal in your prayers as she battles cancer. Also as always, remember our other sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

Upon the Square,

John H. Page

FROM THE WEST:

Brothers:

Worshipful Danny Johnson and I were sitting at the lodge last Saturday during the Child ID program. We had to move some of the tables from the dining room inside the lodge room to use for this event. We did not realize how bad a shape the tables in our dining room actually were. These old pressboard tables are coming apart and rotting. If most people would ever look under the tablecloths, they would be shocked! Worshipful Danny brought up a great idea. We would like to ask every Lodge member to bring with them a donation at the next meeting or the Christmas party. This donation would be used to buy a new eight-foot plastic dining room table for the lodge. These tables currently at Sam's are $42 each. Since some members of the lodge do not have a Sam's club's membership, I am going to buy a table to donate to the lodge and at the next meeting on that new table will be a donation bucket for other members to donate to this cause. None of us like to ask for money, but Brothers if I could get you to donate $40 each, this will fill a significant need for our lodge. My goal is to collect enough money from these donations to also take and buy the matching heavy-duty plastic chairs also. The lodge is growing and with that growth comes the need to update some of the items in the lodge. I can assure everyone this is a need, and not a want. We have had several successful large events at the lodge this year and we have either had not enough tables or not enough seats to provide everyone that has attended. Brothers, let’s move forward on worshipful Danny's great idea and help us fill the bucket at the next two meetings in December. I hope to report in the 1st meeting in January that we met our goal!

Len Lee

Senior Warden

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK:

Brothers,

We are down to only 2 members who still owe 2008 dues and hopefully those are paid before December 27th; to avoid being suspended for non-payment of dues. Thanks to all of you for sending in your 2009 dues.

John “J.D.” Mowl

Secretary

FROM THE EASTERN STAR

NOTICE: At our last meeting a motion was made and carried to change our Meeting Time from 8 P.M. to 7:30 P.M; a by-laws change which requires notification to membership. The proposed change will be voted on at the meeting on Dec 22, 08.

Trestleboard for November 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, great things have been happening at the lodge and we’ve kept the goat busy. We just finished a busy week at the lodge where we conducted all three (3) degrees and on Saturday afternoon we Raised eleven (11) to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason; eight (8) of them were new Callahan Brothers: John Anstett, Justin Carter, Ken Clements, Mark Gearis, Matt Griffin, James Hemphill, Monty Wettstein, and Leon Woolard. Please join me in welcoming these new Master Masons. A welcome back is also extended to Brother Henry Royal who was reinstated last month.

On the night of Thursday, Nov 6th our lodge will again host the Community Military & Veterans Appreciation Night. It is our opportunity to keep Patriotism and Americanism alive in our community by honoring our veterans and those military personnel serving our nation. At the previous events we held drawings for gifts & gift certificates (primarily eating establishments) for the veterans and military personnel in attendance. We could use some more gift certificates and gifts for our Nov 6, event. At our last event, for Memorial Day, every military person and veteran received a gift or gift certificate; ranging from coffee mugs; $5, $10, 25, and $50 dinner gift certificates; up to a Dinner Cruise for ten (10) people.

In the last Lodge Trestleboard I mentioned that we will be having a Past Masters and Widows Dinner. The date for this event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov 18, with dinner beginning at 6:30 P.M.  This is a regular meeting night but we will not open lodge.  After dinner we will be entertained with Blue Grass & Gospel music provided by Brother Terry Dillhyon, PM. This should be an enjoyable evening for everyone. I need to hear from you if you plan on attending so that we can order the proper amount of food. Feel free to call me at 879-7082 if you are coming or need additional information. We can also use your help to notify our Masonic Widows of the dinner.

The Masonic Child-ID Program and OES Yard Sale has been rescheduled to Saturday, Nov 22, 2008. If you have children, grandchildren or know children who have not been through this program then bring them. If they attended last year it is a good idea to update their ID Card yearly; so bring them also. The OES needs your help and is accepting items for their yard sale.

Congratulations to Brother Victor Herrera and his wife Nancy; they are the proud parents of a new 8 lb, 6 oz baby boy.

As always, remember our other sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK:

Brothers,

Dues notices have been mailed for 2009 and many of you have already sent your dues payments. We are down to only 3 members who still owe 2008 dues and hopefully those are paid before December 27th; to avoid being suspended for non-payment of dues.

Fraternally yours,

John “J.D.” Mowl

Trestleboard for October 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Each month I usually let you know how well things have been going. Last month was supposed to be an off month as far as degree work but before it was over we had Initiated 2, Passed 5, and Raised 5 Brothers. Because 2 of the individuals we voted on to receive the degrees are members of the U.S. Navy and deploying before we have our scheduled Short-of-Time Degrees in October we Initiated them at our last meeting. Then we took them for the F.C. and M.M. Degrees, along with 3 other E.A. Brothers to Amelia Lodge on Sep 20th; it was a long day but by the end of the day a total of 11 Brothers were Raised. The five new Master Masons from our lodge are Brothers Mike Crews, Donnie Herndon, Tom Herndon, Victor Herrera, and Jeremy Sheets. At our last meeting we also approved Brother Robert Nunn who transferred his membership to our lodge. We welcome these Brothers into our lodge.

At the first meeting in October we will have our Official Visit by the D.D.G.M. Later in October we will be conducting a Short of Time Class; the E.A. Degree is set for Thursday night (Oct 23, 08) and then the F.C. Degree on the following Saturday morning (Oct 25, 08); break for lunch; then have the M.M. Degree in the afternoon. There are 7 candidates for the E.A. Degree; a couple F.C. Brothers joining the class on Saturday; and 2 Brothers from other lodges to complete their degrees. We will begin the F.C Degree at 8:30 A.M. Come by and enjoy the degrees; if only for an hour.

The 9-11 Patriotic Night with the West Nassau Genealogical Society (WNGS) was a great event. A special thanks to the Blue Lodge Brothers Band who performed; they are all members of Solomon Lodge #20.

The remaining Masonic year activities on our calendar at the Lodge are: Military & Veterans Appreciation Night (Nov 6); Child-ID & OES Yard Sale (Nov 8); Past Masters & Widows Night (Nov 18); and Lodge Christmas Party (Dec 13).

There will be Masonic Sunday Services on Oct 5th at the E. 11th St. Baptist Church starting at 10:30 A.M. with the Blue Lodge Band singing gospel songs; all Masons, families, and friends invited to attend. Dinner will follow the services. The church pastor is Brother Bill Crews, PM of Ezra Lodge #67. (PH: 751-0236).

Brother Don Myers and Sister Martha Royal both are doing well after their surgeries but we still need to keep them in our prayers. As always, please keep myself and your lodge family informed of sickness & distressed; we’ll do our best to visit or at least send a card.

SECRETARY’S CORNER:

There are several brothers still needing to pay their 2008 dues, it is not too late to pay them. Final notices for non-payment of dues will be sent soon.  Also the dues notices for the coming year will be sent soon. Now is a great time to consider a Perpetual Membership.

 Fraternally Yours,
J.D. Mowl, Secretary

Trestleboard for September 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

We had a good month of August. We voted to reinstate Brother Larry Kirkland and he also became a Perpetual Member.  We also welcomed Brothers Joe Johnson and Kim Hutchinson by Raising them to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. Our lodge conducted the first section of the MM Degree and the Past Masters Degree Team conducted the second section for us. Once again the lecture was eloquently delivered by, Honorary Member, R/W: Wilmer T. Atwell, who always is there to help us when called upon.

Last month I mentioned that our lodge would be conducting a Short of Time Class. We have set the E.A. Degree for Thursday night (Oct 23, 08) and then the F.C. Degree on the following Saturday morning (Oct 25, 08); break for lunch; then have the M.M. Degree that afternoon at 1 P.M. At this time we have 8 petitions and will have a couple of E.A. and F.C. Brothers joining the class on Saturday to complete their degrees. Some of you mentioned friends and relatives, who want to be Masons, but just don’t have the time to take out of their busy lives to study the catechism a couple nights a week for 2 or 3 months. This is their opportunity to become Masons; 18 year olds now eligible. Petitions must be received NLT Sep 16 to be read, invested and balloted on.

The secretary has provided us with a list of brothers who have not paid their dues for 2008. Of course, I encourage you whose initials are listed to send in your dues or better yet come to the next lodge meeting and get caught up. For some in our community the economy has slowed down and you may find yourself living from month to month and just don’t have the money to pay your dues. If this is the case then let us know. Our Brotherhood has existed for centuries and taking care of one another is one of our greatest principals. In order to do that we need to know if there is anything we can do to assist.

The secretary also mentioned that we have certificates and pins for those of you who have reached 25, 40, 50, 55, and 60-year milestones in Masonry. We want to present these to you in lodge and pay you the proper respect that is due when receiving these. A few days ago we received a 60 Year Certificate and pin for W: Roy Wingate, Jr. and hope to present this to him real soon.

On Thursday night, Sep 11 we will be Co-Hosting a 9-11 Patriotic Night with the West Nassau Genealogical Society (WNGS). They have arranged for the Blue Lodge Brothers Band to perform. This is a group of Masonic Brothers who will be playing a mixture of Patriotic, Blue Grass, Country, and Gospel Music for us. The WNGS will be serving refreshments and it should be an enjoyable evening. The event is open to everyone and begins at 7 P.M. at the lodge.

This Masonic year has been a busy one and we still have a few activities to schedule into our calendar; such as Past Masters & Widows Night, Child ID Program & OES Yard Sale, Veterans Day Observance with a Military & Veteran Appreciation Night, a Fish Fry Fund Raiser, and Christmas Party. I need for some of you to let me know when we can schedule these and get your ideas.

Please keep Brother Don Myers in your prayers. A little over a week ago he was in the hospital and needs gall bladder and hernia repair surgery. He had an infection that prevented this being done till the infection is reduced. Not to be deterred he was at the OES Luncheon and still driving on. OES Sisters Martha Royal and Marlene Young have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Please keep these 3 and our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

Upon the Square

John H. Page

Worshipful Master

THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

At this time my records show 7 members who have not paid their dues for 2008. By initials they are:  C.E.C; C.E.C. Sr.; J.G.B.; C.D.H.; H.E.M.; W.I.R.; and P.E.S. If any of these are your initials and you feel this is in error please notify me via phone, e-mail or letter.  On October 1st Final notices and Summons to each dues delinquent member will be sent for notification to be present at Stated Communication of the Lodge in December. To avoid this please notify me if assistance or help is needed to ensure dues are paid prior to end of December.
In addition, if any Bother feels that he is due a Service Certificate and/or Pin and has not received it please notify me via phone, e-mail or Lodge Attendance.  We have a backlog of presentations of well-deserved recognitions of Service.

Fraternally Yours,
J.D. Mowl

Trestleboard for August 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

          In July we passed Brothers Joe Johnson, Kim Hutchinson, and Mike Whitley to the Degree of Fellow Craft. On August 19 we will be holding a Master Mason Degree for these brothers. Our lodge will be doing the first section and the Past Masters Degree Team will be conducting the second section for us. Last month I failed to mention that Brother Steve Whitley has been reinstated;

just in time for him to participate in the Master Mason Degree for his son Mike.

We now have new Petition Forms; the old ones are no longer any good. The new “Petition for the Degrees of Freemasonry” have the updated requirement and background check information that new petitioners are required to provide. With the petition there is an added $15 to cover the cost of the background check. We have plenty of the new two (2) page forms so contact us and we’ll get them to you.

The new Grand Master has authorized lodges to hold Short of Time Classes for the 2008 Grand Lodge Year. In talking to most of you there is a definite need for us to conduct a One Day Class. We are looking at conducting a One Day Degree in October and have already received 3 petitions. We also discussed possibly having the E.A. Degree on a Thursday night and then the F.C. Degree on the following Saturday morning; break for lunch; then have the M.M. Degree that afternoon. We will finalize the dates this coming Tuesday night.

Beginning this next meeting our stated communication time is at 7:30 P.M. Dinner will be at 6:30 P.M. Please note that when we have a Master Mason Degree (Aug 19) we will begin those degrees at 7 P.M. Dinners before meetings or degrees will begin one hour earlier. We also have extended an open invitation to everyone to come to dinner before our meetings or degrees. We decided it is good for our wives, families, O.E.S members, and friends to join us for dinner. The fellowship has been great and you can’t find a better meal anywhere.

Our Sunday morning breakfasts have been going real good. Attendance has ranged from the mid 20’s to mid 50’s. The cooks have done an outstanding job of making sure there is plenty of food on the table. Also we’ve seen extra visitors the past few months; many of our local and area politicians have heard about our breakfast  and the opportunity to meet our members.

As always, please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

Upon the Square

John H. Page

Worshipful Master

 THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

We only have a few brothers who have delinquent dues. It sure makes my job easier when everyone is current with their dues.

If you have petitions to turn-in then please make sure you use the new forms and $65 accompanies the petition for initiation.

Also, please get your petitions to me by the first meeting in September if you have someone for the One Day Degree in October.

Fraternally,
J.D. Mowl
Secretary

FROM THE EASTERN STAR

Our chapter is dark for the months of July, August, and September. However, as mentioned last month we will have our Rob Morris Picnic in August. We are going to celebrate this event with Amelia Chapter. The picnic will be on August 30, 2008 at 4 P.M. at Amelia Lodge.

When we return in October we will be scheduling an Initiation for Brothers Randy Nichols and Joe Roberson.

**********************************

Trestleboard for July 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

This past month we had two of our members, Henry Lee McSwain and Leo Bentley “L.B.” Griffis, called home to be with the Lord. We paid tribute to them at our first meeting in July with an alter draping ceremony and hearing kinds words from those who remembered both of these fine men and Masons.  Brother Griffis leaves behind a son, Brother Dwight Griffis, who is also a member of our lodge. Please remember these families in your prayers. We know these Brothers will be greatly missed by family and friends

In June we Initiated Brothers Crews, Kimbrough, and Gerling into Freemasonry. On July 15 we will be Passing these new Brothers with a Fellow Craft Degree. We also want to welcome to W: Leo W. Griffis and W: Billy Wright and reinstated Brothers Steve Whitley and James Hendricks into membership.

I’d like to thank all you Brothers and Sisters who came out and supported the Lodge and community at the Railroad Days Parade, Blueberry Festival and the Fourth of July Celebration at Hilliard. These have proved to be great opportunities to let folks know there is an active Masonic Lodge here in Western Nassau County. There is a direct relationship between our support of these events and the growing membership we are enjoying at Callahan Lodge. Also at two (2) of these events we sold ice cream and all these funds go to support our Masonic Charities. I’d especially like to thank Brother Len Lee who donated the ice cream.

In the last Trestleboard we notified the membership that a motion was made and carried to change our stated communication from 8 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. This procedure was required in order to vote on changes to our by-laws. The proposed change was voted on and passed at the meeting on June 3, 2008. We have now notified Grand Lodge of the By-Laws change and all Stated Communications in the future will now begin at 7:30 P.M. Please note that when we have a Master Mason Degree I will begin those degrees at 7 P.M. Dinners before meetings or degrees will begin one hour earlier.

My Brothers you can’t hear any news these days without someone telling us about the increase in prices of products, etc. Well, we are seeing the same thing happening at the lodge with an increase in electricity due to a fuel charge being added and the insurance almost doubling this year because of hurricane coverage. At the last meeting we talked about how to maintain our building and make sure we are adding funds to our building fund. We know the building will require a new roof in about five years and we need to start setting aside funds to cover that expense. There is consensus that we do not need to raise dues but to let the membership know we have a need and request those who can to donate $50 to the building fund. Several Brothers pulled out their check book and put there money where their mouth was and wrote checks for $50 to the Building Fund.

Since last year we having been renting out the lodge to Masons and OES Members for family reunions, etc. The extra $100 for these rentals have helped pay for recent air conditioning repairs, etc. I made sure when we had to get a new insurance policy on the building (the old company pulled out of Florida entirely) that it will also cover renting the building to those who are not members of our Lodge or OES. We are looking at what we need to do to the building to be within code so that we can rent the social hall out for receptions, parties, etc. Callahan has few places to rent for such events and this could help us with the funds to make building improvements, etc. I have checked with other lodges and Grand Lodge and this is something most of them are doing to help stay afloat and provide for the upkeep on their buildings.

As always, please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

We are doing well in receiving dues and are down to only 8 members who haven’t paid their 2008 dues; delinquent dues notices went out on July 1st.

FROM THE EASTERN STAR

Summer Greeting from the East at Callahan O.E.S. 154. We passed our school of instruction and our official visit. We are dark July, August, and September. We will have our Rob Morris Picnic in August and will let you know the date soon. While it is summer we thought we would have a Silent Food Sale. A bit of news today. A Silent Food Sale is on the way. In these busy days, who wants to bake a pie, cookies, or even a cake? You’d be surprised if you count the cost for materials, heat, and time you’ve lost. Cooking for sales is extra work, yet nobody really wishes to shirk. So we’ve thought of a plan that’s really grand. We feel quite sure you’ll understand. In a small envelope, Please put the price of a pie, cake, or something nice. Without fuss or bother you have done your part. We are sure you will give with a willing heart. So this is the end of our little tale. Wishing success on our Silent Food Sale. Please donate to Callahan O.E.S. Chapter #154; % Martha Royal, Secretary; 9828 Ford Road; Bryceville, FL 32009.

Trestleboard for June 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

This past month we Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason Brothers Joe Roberson and Randy Nichols. Brother Hirth had a work conflict and we hope to take him to another lodge for him to receive his MM Degree sometime this month. Prior to the degree we had a fish fry and as always Brother Tom Page did an outstanding job of catching and then cooking the fish. About 55 attended the dinner and 40 the degree.

The community Military Appreciation Night we hosted, on May 22, was a great success and over 100 people attended. As Masons we took this opportunity to join in observing Memorial Day and honored local military personnel and veterans. Many of you are military retirees or veterans and know the importance of having a community and nation that supports you. A special thanks goes to our OES for all their help in setting up and serving food and drinks. Several Masonic Brothers and businesses donated gift certificates, tool sets, Dunkin Donuts Coffee, rods & reels, etc for drawings for those military and veterans who attended the event. Donated food came from Callahan B-B-Q (Danny Murray provided an endless amount of chicken nuggets-even though he was in middle of moving locations); Sports Bar & Grille provided chicken wings; the Lodge provided hot dogs & tea; the Lions Club and Chamber-of-Commerce provided chips and soda.

As we went to print with the Trestleboard there were 4 of us, from our Lodge, attending the Grand Lodge Communication in Orlando. At the last business meeting we discussed this years Grand Lodge legislative proposals and how we should vote. As I send out this email version of the Trestleboard we have returned and I can tell you about legislation at Grand Lodge that passed or was rejected. A couple items passed were: Mandatory Background Investigation on individuals seeking the Degrees; authority for the Grand Master to expel brothers convicted of certain crimes; and lowering the age from 21 to 18 years of age to become a Mason in Florida

Our Lodge will again participate in the Railroad Days Parade, the Blueberry Festival, and the Hilliard 4th of July Celebration. We will have booths at the Blueberry Festival and the 4th of July Celebration where we will be selling ice cream and need for you to come out and support us. The funds we make at these 2 events go toward supporting our Masonic Charities (Thanksgiving Food Baskets, Little League Team, distressed members, and supporting the Shrine, Scottish Rite and District Association Golf Tournaments).

As always, please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

This will serve as the required notice that requires notification to membership in order to vote on changes to our by-laws. We will vote on the proposed change at the next meeting on June 3, 2008.

At the next stated communication we have 3 petitions for the degrees to vote on and at least 2 petitions for transfer of membership and 1 petition for re-instatement to read for the first time.

We are doing well in receiving dues and are down to only 8 members who haven’t paid their 2008 dues; delinquent dues notices will go out July 1st.

Trestleboard for May 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

In our Masonic travels we meet many brothers along the pathway. Occasionally we meet one who, we feel, stands out head and shoulders above others; such a brother to me was W: Zelton Conner, an Honorary Member of Callahan Lodge, who passed away in April. He was originally from Callahan and moved to Folkston, GA where he owned and operated a store.  Brother Conner was a Past Master of Folkston Masonic Lodge and over the years he was called upon to be guest speaker at many  special events here at Callahan Lodge. I personally think he was one of the best and funniest speakers I’ve ever heard. He could have you laughing one minute and crying the next. His inspiring talks on Americanism and the virtues of Masonry made a lasting impression on me and many of our lodge members. As he passes on to that Celestial Lodge above he will be greatly missed by those of us who knew and loved him.

This past month we passed to Fellow Craft Brothers Roberson, Nichols, and Hirth. They are working on their catechism and we will be having a Master Mason Degree for them on May 20, 2008. Prior to the degree we will have a fish fry beginning at 5:30 P.M. The degree begins at 7 P.M.

The West Nassau County Relay-for Life went well and our lodge raised almost $400 for the American Cancer Society. Many of our members and the O.E.S. came out to help support the event and walk laps around the track. Our booth seemed to become a gathering place with lots of good fellowship. I would like to say a special  “thank you” to W: Jammie Reaves who donated the ice cream we sold at our booth to raise funds.

On May 22, 2008 our lodge will be hosting another Military Appreciation Night beginning at 6:30 P.M. This will be a community event observing Memorial Day and honoring local military personnel and veterans. Several Masonic Brothers and businesses have donated gift certificates, tool sets, Dunkin Donuts Coffee, flower arrangements, etc for drawings for those military and veterans who attend our event.

At the next meeting we will discuss this years Grand Lodge legislative proposals  and how you want your officers to vote. Here are 3 you might want to know more about: (1) Requirement for Criminal Background Investigation for Petitions for the Degrees which is mandatory and adds addition cost to the degrees; (2) To allow 18 year olds to become Master Mason; (3) For Expulsion from Fraternity by Grand Master for certain crimes repugnant to God and Humanity (Murder, Child Molestation, etc).

As always, please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

It is May now and almost all of you have paid your dues.  For those of you who have not had the opportunity to do so, please send them in as you can or e-mail me if you need to work out a payment option.  The delinquent dues notices will go out July 1st.
Remember, perpetual members never pay dues again.  Help the Lodge.  Help yourself.  Sign up now!  Contact the Worshipful Master or myself for details.  Payment plan terms are available.
Come visit your Lodge.  As of this writing at our next stated session we have 3 new candidates who have petitioned the lodge to read, one petition for membership transfer, we will discuss the upcoming Master Masons degree and have 4 Master Mason Certificates to present as well as the following certificates to present :
 - 50 years of membership:  Charles Morris, (certificate, pin and card)

 - 25 years of membership:  W: Wayne Nye, PM; Brothers Ernest Zweifel, Sr. and Walter Boatwright (certificate and pin).

Trestleboard for April 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

FROM THE EAST:

In March we Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason Brothers: Joey Browning, Joe Bruce, David Cowart and Ben Derr. Brother Bruce and Derr were Raised by their fathers who came in from Ohio and Tennessee for this special occasion. We also Initiated into Freemasonry Brothers Hurst, Johnson, and Nichols. Congratulations to all of you.

At our first meeting in March I had the honor of presenting Brother Gene Francis with his 50 Year Membership Certificate, pin, and card. He was also given Masonic Grand Honors. Brother Francis may have problems with his vision but he is still mentally “sharp as a tack.” Thank you Brother Francis for coming out, with your wife, for dinner and then allowing us to honor you at our meeting.

I previously mentioned that our lodge is striving to do most of our own degree work. With exception of Lecturer we are now conferring our own Entered Apprentice and Fellow Craft Degrees and are working on putting together a Master Mason Degree Team. We need everyone’s help in putting together a Master Mason Degree Team. I know some of you old timers know the parts; please come out and help us get this team going.

The District Masonic Association is sponsoring a Golf Tournament on April 14th.  Our lodge is again sponsoring a hole for this event; in the past all proceeds went to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. The tournament still needs players and sponsors.

The American Cancer Society West Nassau County Relay-for Life will be held April 11-12, 2008 at West Nassau High School Stadium. We have several Brothers and Sisters who have signed up to be on our Masonic Team but we can always use more. Come out and walk a couple of laps with us. To sign-up you can call me or sign-up online by going to the Relay-for-Life; here is the link.  Team: Callahan Masonic Lodge.

In the last Trestleboard I mentioned that Brother Jasper Griffin was in the hospital. He is home, doing fine, and attending Lodge meetings & degrees. As always, please keep our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

I’d like to thank all of you who have already paid your dues. It makes my job a lot easier when everyone has paid. At this time there are only 10 members who have not sent in their dues for 2008. Just a reminder, you don’t have to worry about dues anymore if you become a Perpetual Membership.

Our next Entered Apprentice Degree is scheduled for June 17, 2008. If you have a candidate for this class then we need the petition turned in by the first meeting in May. At this time we have 2 petitions that we will be reading at our next meeting, for the June E.A. Degree. If you need a petition then call me and I’ll get it to you.

Fraternally,
J.D. Mowl
Secretary

Trestleboard for March 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Once again we have had an active month of February. In March we will be having an Entered Apprentice Degree and then the following week a Master Mason Degree. Each month afterward we are scheduling a degree for the second meeting night or third Tuesday of each month.

This past Tuesday night we Passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft Brothers Joey Browning, Joe Bruce, David Cowart and Ben Derr. Once again our Fellow Craft Degree Team was made up entirely of our own officers and again I’d like to thank Brother Jack Tucker for sitting in the East as Worshipful Master. Brother J.D. Mowl is already practicing to fill the seat in the East for the next class of candidates. It is great to see our new officers working on becoming proficient in the degrees. Our lecturer for the F.C. Degree was our, Honorary Member, R/W: Walter Hammond, who does a good job of assisting brothers on their journey.

Please pay close attention to the times of the nights we are having degree work. We are moving the times up for those evenings. For the Fellow Craft Degree the Dinner is at 6:30 P.M. and Degree is at 7:30 P.M. and for the Mater Mason Degree the Dinner is at 6 P.M. and Dgree is at 7 P.M.

As mentioned, in the last Trestle Board, several places in the roof were leaking and since then we’ve done some patching. We are still trying to get some estimates and at the same time get firm prices on materials if we do it ourselves. Meanwhile in an effort to increase our building funds we found that we still have 22 of our theater chairs that don’t have names on them. If you’d like to dedicate a chair then we are asking $100; the name will be stenciled on the chair

The Lodge is again participating in the West Nassau Relay-for-Life. This year it is being held on Friday & Saturday (April 11&12, 08) at West Nassau High School Football Field. This event is to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and the fight against cancer. Last year we had a good turnout by our members, the Eastern Star, and the Blue Lodge Brothers Band. If you’d like to help then you can let me know or go to the Relay-for-Life website and sign-up on-line for our Team: Callahan Masonic Lodge. All funds we raise at this event go to the local American Cancer Society.

Also need to let everyone one know we are going to be hosting another Community Military Appreciation Night/Drop-in at our lodge the Thursday before Memorial Day. Please help us get the word out to all military personnel and let then know about this event. We have already received a couple hundred dollars in donations to go toward purchasing of gift certificates to be drawn as prizes for those military personnel present.

Brother R/W: Jasper Griffin was admitted to Baptist Hospital on Monday (Feb 25th); he was having chest pains and underwent tests. He was released a couple of days later is doing okay. We also learned that the sister of Brother George Spicer passed away last week. Please keep these two brothers and our other sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

THE SECRETARY’S CORNER:

If you would like to become a perpetual member just pay 20 times your annual dues and you are free from worry and not only that but our lodge continues to receive your contributions long after you have gone to the celestial lodge on high.  The Grand Lodge of Florida will even take a down payment of $200.00 and you can set up a payment plan where you pay the remainder in Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annual or Annual payments.   Call or drop me an e-mail if you need more info on Perpetual Memberships.

Trestleboard for February 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, we’ve started off this new Masonic year in a great way by Initiating 6 brothers into our lodge; we welcome Brothers Joey Browning, Joe Bruce, Pat Cauley, Ben Derr, David Cowart, and Mike Whitley. Our Entered Apprentice Degree Team was made up entirely of our own officers. I’d like to especially thank our Chaplain, Brother Jack Tucker, who presided in the East as Worshipful Master and our new Sr. Deacon, Brother Mike Matthews, for doing such fine jobs in those positions. Brother Jeff Johnson filled in as Chaplain for Brother Tucker and all the other officers performed their duties in their respective chairs. Once again the lecture was eloquently delivered by, Honorary Member, R/W: Wilmer Atwell, who always does a fine job.

While mentioning degrees I want to call your attention to our Fellow Craft Degree; which is scheduled for Feb 26, 08. Also notice in the calendar there is another E. A. Degree scheduled on Mar 18, 08. If you have a petition to be balloted on for that Initiation you need to turn the petition in by the next meeting. Petitions for the Degrees or a Petition for Reinstatement are available from myself or the secretary; give us a call and we’ll get them to you and even pick them up. At this time the cost for Reinstatement is only the current years dues.

At our last meeting we discussed what needs to be done to fix our roof. Over the past couple of years several places in the roof leaked and they were patched. The problem is getting worse and we need to re-shingle over the current shingles or put on a metal roof. Most of the brothers want to go ahead and put on a metal roof that will last for 50 years or more. The cost of either option is not known at this time so we will be working on finding out the cost of doing it with shingles or metal. We do know that either option requires more money than we currently have in our building fund so we will be looking at ways to raise funds to cover the cost of redoing our roof. At the meeting it was voted on to patch the roof and work on adding to our Building Fund by requesting volunteer $50 or $100 contributions for fixing the roof.  Many of the other lodges in our area have been raising their dues and I personally don’t think we need to jump on that bandwagon. In the past couple of years we have been doing and fixing things around our lodge mostly with funds raised from our dinners and the monthly breakfast. We will continue these and plan on having quarterly dinners and sell tickets. Once we raise enough funds to cover the cost of the materials we will do the work ourselves to save on labor costs. If any of you brothers can help or have contacts where we can save on the purchase of the required materials then let us know.

Our lodge will once again be participating in the West Nassau Relay-for-Life on Friday & Saturday (April 11&12, 08) at West Nassau High School Football Field.

Brother Don Myers is home and steadily recovering from his surgery. Somehow he found the energy to fellowship with the brethren and attended part of the last E.A. Degree   Remember our other sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK:

Brethren, the payment of dues is going well and I thank you all.  The recent E.A. degree went extremely well and there is a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the Lodge the 2008 year looks to be a promising year.  I encourage you all to attend the Lodge and provide your thoughts and guidance on the discussions concerning the improvements for the Lodge.   If there is any way I may be of assistance please e-mail me at jdmowl@yahoo.com of call me at 904-673-6073.  Hope to see you in the Lodge soon.

Trestleboard for January 2008

 FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, as we close out the year of 2007 and enter into our new Masonic year I hope each of you are having or have had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a Happy and productive New Year. Our lodge has had a very good 2007 Masonic Year. Worshipful Wright is very happy with all the successes from membership increases to events held during his year as Worshipful Master. Every time we did something it just seemed that it came out better than planned. My goal is to continue with the momentum from 2007 and see the lodge continue to do great things for our lodge, our community and even this great nation of ours.

Once again, my brothers, the Grim Reaper has visited and took with him one of our members; W: Troy L. Guynn (affectionately known as “Boss Hog”) passed away on December 18th. Brother Guynn was a Past Master of Hilliard Lodge #208 and Perpetual Member of our lodge. If you know his wife, Claire, or any of his children I’m sure they’d appreciate hearing from you.

This coming Saturday, Dec 29th, we will be having our Installation of Officers for 2008. We will serve dinner at 6 P.M. and have Open Installation of Officers at 7 P.M. In order to accommodate our guest and conduct some lodge business we will briefly open the lodge at 5 P.M.; take care of business; and then “Retire from Labor to Refreshment” so that we can have dinner followed by Open Installation of Officers.

As we begin our new year we have 3 individuals to Initiate and a couple of more petitions to vote on at our meeting in January; our normally stated meeting would be New Years Day so we won’t meet that night. I have set Tuesday, Jan 22, 08 for an Entered Apprentice Degree.

On Dec 8th we had a Master Mason Degree and Raised six (6) brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. W: Terry Kuch (Oceanway Lodge) presided in the East and was assisted by the Past Masters Degree Team as well as Team Ruffian from Amelia Lodge. R/W Wilmer T. Atwell delivered the Master Mason Degree Lecture.  After the degree we had a Christmas Party and had over 75 in attendance. We were entertained by W: Kevin Sanders and even Santa Claus paid a visit to the delight of all the children present. A special thanks to Brother Len Lee’s mom who prepared the turkey, ham, dressing and fixings. Also a great big thank you to our OES sisters who brought all the deserts. It was a great day and evening.

Speaking of “great days” I would be remiss if I failed to mention the great day we all had on Dec 1st for the Callahan Christmas Parade. We had a group participate in the parade with a lodge float and several of us helped cook and serve lunch, along with our OES sisters, at the Shrine Ceremonial. This was the first time Morocco Temple held it’s Shrine Ceremonial in Callahan and everyone seemed to really be pleased. Special thanks to Brother Don Myers for the use of his truck and to JD, Paul, Ben, Mike, Jack, Jason, Brian and Worshipful Wright (hope I didn’t leave anyone out) who rode or walked along with our float. Also thanks go to Bruce Oliver for working so closely with us to in supporting the Shrine. All those Shiners in the parade really made it a truly special day for our community.

At our first meeting in December we held our election of officers for 2008. The elected and appointed officers for the new year are listed below under Lodge Officers for 2008..

This coming year we will again be working with our community and other organizations to do those things Masons should be doing. With everyone’s help we can truly make a difference for the better. A simple thing like stopping by and visiting goes a long way towards making events enjoyable and successful occasions.

Brother Don Myers is in Baptist Hospital (New Heart Wing) recovering from an operation. Please keep him in your prayers; he’d also enjoy a visit. Remember our other sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

Upon the Square

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK:

Brothers,
It is an honor to have been elected to serve as your Lodge Secretary for 2008.  I look forward to a promising year for our Lodge in the coming year.  The 2008 dues notices have been sent out, many have already paid.  Please pay ASAP if not already paid. Also I need help finding Charlie D. Henderson, a brother with last known address of Dover, FL; he is 50+ year member of our lodge.

Trestleboard For December 2007

FROM THE EAST

I want to thank the members of Callahan Lodge #32 for allowing me to be your Worshipful Master for the year 2007. I think we have made great progress this year. We have brought some 20 new members into the Lodge. We set the record for attendance at the 11th & 12th Masters & Wardens Assoc. Meeting. We put approximately 80 children through the child ID program. Our joint Callahan Community and Callahan Lodge Military Appreciation Night Drop In was a huge success. Local businesses donated gift certificates and door prizes to the active military and retirees. Come and visit an active Masonic Lodge

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard For November 2007

October was a very busy month for Callahan Lodge. We still have a large class of new Masons working their way to Master Mason level in the Lodge. Your Lodge is alive and active and being recognized by other lodges in the area. We are going to finish the year in high speed. You are invited to come to a meeting and see for yourself.

Foster Wright

Worshipful Master

Update since the mailing of the Trestleboard: On Thursday, Oct 25th, the daughter of Brother Al Martinez and grand-daughter of W: Wayne Nye was hit and killed on the way to catch her school bus. It is sometimes hard to express our heart-felt sympathies but Brother Martinez said he appreciates his Masonic Brothers who rallied together to support both he and his family. He said he received calls, cards, visits, and food from members of other lodges as well as our Lodge. We also received word that Brother Maurice Tatum passed away on Oct 1st; he was a member of our Lodge for over 50 years. Please remember to keep these families in your prayers.  Several activities also took place: the Child-ID Program was held at the Lodge on Saturday, Oct 27th, and we had 85 kids go through that day; each received a free Child-ID tee shirt. Special thanks to Sheriff (Brother) Tommy Seagraves and his deputy who used an Eye Scanner and finger print cards and R/W Allan McQuaig, Brother McQuaig’s wife and Brother Daryl Boone who came out to take picture for ID Cards. Helping us that day were our own members: Brothers Ben Marquis, Monroe Royal, Danny Johnson, Jack Tucker, John Page as well as Eastern Star members Betty Mathews, Peggy Taylor and Carol Kwaak. The OES also had a yard sale that day with Sisters Carol Kwaak and  Susan Drawbond heading up that event. They raised over $300 that went towards supporting the Children’s Halloween Party at the Pediatrics Section at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. The Girl Scouts were also participants and sold bake goods to help raise funds for the Children’s Halloween Party at Shands. On Tuesday night, Oct 30th we held a Fellow Craft Degree and Passed 6 brothers to the F.C. Degree; special thanks to R/W Robbie Stokes who gave an excellent lecture and Brother Len Lee who provided an outstanding meal.

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard For October 2007

The Past Master, Widows and Family Night we held last month was a great success.  We had approximately 90-100 in attendance and everyone enjoyed the entertainment provided by W: Sanders.

We Initiated 11 Brothers into Freemasonry in September. On Saturday, Sep 15th we took 2 candidates to be Initiated with 6 other candidates at Solomon Lodge and then we held an      Entered Apprentice Degree on Sep 25th here at Callahan Lodge were we Initiated 9 other of our candidates. It was good to see all the chairs filled by officer and members of this lodge. As usual R/W Wilmer Atwell gave an excellent lecture.

Update: Our lodge has lost 2 members in the past couple of weeks.  On Sep 29th W: Gene Steedley (Past Master of Hilliard Lodge #208) and perpetual member of Callahan Lodge passed away.  Then on Oct 13th W: James S. Page lost a long battle to cancer. W: James Page was Master of Callahan Lodge in 1995 and was Nassau County Tax Appraiser for 24 years before retiring a few years ago. Please keep the families of these 2 Brothers in your prayers.

Brethren, last month we hosted the 11th & 12th Masonic Districts Association (for the month of June) at Callahan Lodge.  WHAT A GREAT SUCCESS!!  I believe that we set a record for attendance as we had 150 people eat at the Lodge.  We have a GREAT COOK and the word has gotten out.  Why don’t you come and sample the fine food?

A special “thanks” to the brothers who set up the Masonic Booth at the 4th of July Celebration at Hilliard.  We talked to several men who are interested in becoming freemasons and ladies who want to join the Order of the Eastern Star.  We even talked to a couple of brothers who have moved into our area and want to transfer their membership or become plural members of our lodge.

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard For May 2007

Brethren, the past month was another good month for the lodge; we Raised 3 new brothers and affiliated another one. On a more somber note we lost Brother William F. Nantz, Sr; he was a member of our lodge for more than 50 years.  Our heart goes out to his grief stricken family.  He leaves a son son, Bill Jr, and a grandson, Richard Jr, (both members of our lodge) to carry on in his footsteps as Master Masons.  The next events that you need to mark on your calendar are the Callahan Railroad Days (Jun 2nd) when we will be selling B-B-Q Chicken Dinners (Donations: $6) and we plan to also put a float in the parade that day.  Then we will also be having another charity fundraiser during the Northeast Florida Blueberry Festival (Jun 16-17).

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard For April 2007

Brethren, we had a great month of March.  The Family Night and Fish Fry had a great turn-out; we expected about 50 and had about 75 in attendance.  It was a good thing that Brother Tom Page came prepared and was able to feed the multitude.  The Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master, R:W: Alan McQuaig also went well.  At the end of the month on March 30th and 31st we supported our community at the West Nassau County Relay-for-Life where we raised money for the American Cancer Society.  We sold ice cream as our fundraiser and didn’t do as well as we had hoped because the weather turned rainy and cold.  However we had a lot of good fellowship and enjoyed our brothers from the Blue Lodge Brothers Band who entertained Friday night and Saturday morning.  A special “THANKS” to R:W: Robbie Stokes and W: Barry Collins who coordinated with us for the band.  Please mark your calendar for the Master Mason Degree for Apr 24th and plan on attending.

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard For March 2007

Brethren, the month of March has a couple of big events coming.  The first will be on March 6th and is a Family Night with a fish fry; there will be other food for those of you who don’t like fish.  This event will also be the Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master.  Then on March 30th and 31st we will be supporting the West Nassau County Relay-for-Life and we’ll be helping raise money for the American Cancer Society.

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard for February 2007

Brethren, The month of January has not been good for Callahan Lodge. Three deaths have hurt us greatly; the first being Worshipful Bob Taylor’s, then Worshipful Mike Wingate and Brother Ben Marquis’ wives. Our prayers go out to the families of all. However the 2007 Installation of Officers program was a huge success; some 47 people showed up for it. We also have five applications for the Masonic degrees, which is a good start for the year 2007. What I need now is for you to come to the Lodge meetings. Why don’t you make a New Years resolution to show up.

Foster Wright Worshipful Master

I hope everyone has gotten their dues card, but if you haven’t, contact me and I will handle it.

FROM THE EAST                          Trestleboard for January 2007

Brethren, I would like to give many thanks to all the Brothers for electing me Worshipful Master for 2007. It is indeed a humbling experience and a true honor. I have many goals for the coming year. The first is to continue the great work Worshipful John Page has begun and the second is to strengthen the bonds between the Lodge and the Eastern Star. I look forward to a year of fun, fellowship, and brotherly love. If you know of a good man that could be a good mason, I will have applications available with me and at the lodge at all times. Happy New Year to you and yours!

I too would like to express my thanks to the craft for electing me Secretary of Callahan Lodge for 2007. I hope everyone has gotten their dues card, but if you haven’t, contact me and I will handle it.

Callahan Masonic Lodge No. 32

F. & A. M.

Trestleboard for December 2006 (Sent by U.S. Mail on Nov 29, 2006).

This is an electric copy of our lodge trestleboard and has been edited for the internet.  Complete names can be found in the trestleboard sent to our members via U.S. Mail.

FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, it is with sorrow that I write this last Trestleboard as Worshipful Master.  I just found out that Worshipful John J. Reaves, Jr. died last night.  He was one of our Past Masters and was a key person in building our new lodge building.  Now is the time for us to wrap our arms around his family and let them know that his Masonic Brothers are there to help them.  His Viewing will be Wednesday evening, Nov 29th, from 6-8 P.M. at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Ave; the Funeral Service will be on Thursday, Nov 30th at 11 A.M. at Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd; followed by Internment and Graveside Masonic Rites in Mayo, FL at 3:30 P.M.

(UPDATE:   Many brothers attended the Viewing and Funeral Service of Worshipful John J. Reaves, Jr.  Several of us made the trip to the cemetery where we conducted Masonic Graveside Rites.  A special thanks to Rite Worshipful Wilma Attwell who served as Master of Ceremonies at the graveside.)

Brothers Blitch, Marquis, and Tucker stood their E.A. Proficiency at our last meeting.  This Thursday, Nov 30th there will be a Fellow Craft Degree for them.  Please do your best to attend.  Dinner begins at 6:30 P.M. and the Degree begins at 7:30 P.M.  Rite Worshipful Walter Hammond will deliver the lecture; he has been very helpful to us and has been proposed for Honorary Membership in our lodge. We’ll vote on it at our next meeting.

(UPDATE:  We held the Fellow Craft Degree and due to the Worshipful Master attending the funeral of Brother Reaves the presiding Master was Worshipful Jeff Wood, Sr of Pine Hill Lodge #.  We also had an Entered Apprentice from Baldwin Lodge, Bro Thompson, who was Passed to Fellow Craft along with Brothers Blitch, Marquis, and Tucker).

I’d like to thank all of you who attended our Past Masters and Widows Night on Nov 18th.  Everyone had an enjoyable evening and they were very complimentary of the roasted hog, deer, and fried turkeys we served.  The turn out was the best I’ve seen at the lodge in years and the Blue Lodge Brothers Band was very entertaining as well as comical.  We finished up the night with a Patriotic Tribute to America and Worshipful Barry Collins gave a rousing performance as the great patriot Patrick Henry.

In the past I asked for suggestions on what we can do to help get a better turnout at meetings, etc.  We had several brothers’ say we eat too late and they suggested we change our meeting time.  After talking it over we decided to eat at 7 P.M. before our Stated Communications; keeping the 8 P.M. meeting time.  We are starting our meetings on time and trying to end them as close to 9 P.M. as possible.  Those that want to fellowship after the meeting can still do so and eat some more food and dessert.

The Thanksgiving Food Basket donation box was overflowing.  We were able to help 3 families, who are going through rough times, to have a happier Thanksgiving.  Along with the donated items we purchased turkeys and pies from monetary donations and funds we’ve raised to help our community.  Our donation box received a big boost from the Eastern Star, both Girl Scout Troops that use our lodge, and students who attend classes at the lodge from Sonshine Academy.  A special thanks goes to all of them and to Sister Kwaak, OES Worthy Matron, and Brother  Royal who helped me deliver the “boxes of food.”

I asked if there was interest in sending items to our service members serving in Afghanistan & Iraq.  One of our new brothers who transferred his membership this year to our lodge, Brother Bill DeForest, has a son in Iraq.  Brother Bill has volunteered to be the focal point for our lodge; you can contact him at 879-9525.

The Lodge will have a float in the Callahan Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec 2nd.  We can always use help decorating the float or being in the parade with us.

The Eastern Star will have a Rummage Sale at the lodge on Saturday, Dec 2nd from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M. The OES still could use any of those items in your attic or garage that you’ve been wanting to get rid of.

This coming Sunday, Dec 3rd, is the first Sunday of the month; don’t forget the Blue Lodge Breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 A.M.

Election of Lodge Officers for 2007 will be conducted at our next meeting on Tuesday, December 5, 2006.

Worshipful Bob Taylor is in Lakeside Rehab on Dunn Ave. He likes visitors and thanks you for your prayers. As always let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill and need a visit.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

                                                                                                     November 2006

FROM THE EAST:

This past month (Oct 06) we Initiated into Freemasonry Brothers Blitch, Marquis, and Tucker.  When you see them make sure you “welcome” them and their families into our brotherhood.  They are studying hard for their proficiency and we have scheduled their Fellow Craft Degree for Thursday, Nov 30th.  These new brothers are receiving their E.A. instruction on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6 P.M.; all brothers are welcome to sit in on these one hour classes.

In October several of our members worked with the Girl Scouts to cleanup our section of Adopt a highway in Callahan then 4 of us attended the Amelia Lodge Outdoor Master Mason Degree at Ft Clinch; it was a beautiful night and the degree team did a great job of conferring the degree.

In November we have a lot happening and hopefully we’ll be seeing many of you at these events.  Here is a rundown of events and what to expect:

     -  First Sunday of the month Blue Lodge Breakfast on Nov 5th.  We’ve been having about 25-30 brothers, family members, and friends attend each breakfast.  The time is from 7 to 9:30 A.M with most people showing up between 8 & 9:30 A.M; so we are talking about adjusting our serving time from 7:30 to 9:30 A.M.

     -  Past Masters & Widows Night, will be on Saturday, Nov 18, 2006 at 6:00 P.M.  We are cooking a hog and having a Pig Pickin.  We will be entertained by the Blue Lodge Band; a group of Past Masters & brothers who do a good job of pickin & grinning.  As I mentioned in the last Trestleboard the dress will be Sunday go to meeting overalls and ladies your calico or denim dresses.  I also mentioned the band already has a following so we’ll need to hear from you if you plan on attending.  We want to make sure we have an accurate headcount so we have plenty of food.  We’ll also be cooking a couple of fried turkeys for those of you who can’t or don’t eat pork. Come prepared for a good time and I have invited only one person to speak; a distinguished statesman and orator who was governor of Virginia during our Revolutionary War by the name of Patrick Henry.

     -  Our Thanksgiving food contribution box located in the lodge is full and we still can use more items.  Sister Carol Kwaak, OES Worthy Matron, identified one family who is in real need of help and if there are others then let me know.  Right now we are collecting can goods & non-perishables.  We’ll purchase the turkeys just before delivering the baskets at Thanksgiving like we did last year.

     -  There doesn’t appear to be much interest in sending items to our service members serving in Afghanistan & Iraq that I mentioned last month.  So far no one has contacted me or mentioned supporting me in this effort.

     -  The Lodge will have a float in the Callahan Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec 2nd.  We can always use help decorating the float or being in the parade with us.

     -  The Eastern Star will have a Rummage Sale at the lodge on Saturday, Dec 2nd after the Christmas Parade.  They can use items for the sale.  We’ll also have some refreshments during the rummage sale.

Bro. Bob Taylor was admitted to Shands this past Sunday and I stopped by to see him.  He has an infection and it has caused him to be very weak.  I told him that he would be in our prayers and he needs to get well so he can attend Past Masters Night. As always let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill and need a visit.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

October 2006

FROM THE EAST:

The OES had a good turnout last month for their OES Founders day.   I'd like to thanks all you brothers who attended and helped with the cooking.   Everyone especially enjoyed the smoked chicken the brothers cooked and served.

Since our last trestleboard we Raised Brothers P. Brown, Jr. and S. Higginbotham to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason; voted for Mr. B. Marques to receive the Degrees for Freemasonry; voted for Worshipful Brothers J. M. Drew and K. S. Saunders to be Plural Members of our lodge; voted for W:. Bob Cooper to become an Honorary Member of our lodge; and hosted a Child Identification Program at the lodge.   We had 40 kids participate in the Child ID Program and during this event we sold hot dogs and hamburgers to raise funds for the Grand Masters Charity; which is the American Diabetes Association.  On Sept 9th, R:W: J. Griffin, presented the Grand Master, M:.W:. Robert D. Trump, with a check for money that we raised at our fundraiser.

Brethren we are back to our normal schedule of meeting twice a month.   Also, we have other events and undertakings that you need to be made aware:

     -  First Sunday of the month Blue Lodge Breakfast on Oct 1st.

     -  Adopt a highway cleanup with Girl Scouts on Saturday Oct 14th, 8 A.M. to 10 A.M.

     -  On Saturday, Oct 21st Amelia Lodge will hold an Outdoor Master Mason Degree at Ft Clinch.  Several of us from our lodge plan on attending so give me a call if you want more information or want to go with us.

     -  Past Masters & Widows Night, Saturday, Nov 18, 2006 at 6:00 P.M.  We will cook a hog and have a Pig Pickin.  We will be entertained by the Blue Lodge Band; a group of Past Masters & brothers who do a good job of pickin & grinning.  Plan on wearing your best Sunday go to meeting overalls and ladies your denim dresses.  This group already has a following so we’ll need to hear from you if you plan on attending.  We want to make sure we have an accurate headcount so we have plenty of food.  We’ll also be cooking a couple of fried turkeys for those of you who can’t eat pork. Feel free to call me at 879-7082 if you are coming or need additional information.

     -  We have a Thanksgiving food contribution box located in the lodge so please bring some can goods & non-perishables.  We will give out some food baskets at Thanksgiving like we did last year.

     -  If you would like to send items to our service members serving in Afghanistan & Iraq then let me know.   I am working with the VFW and Lions Club to send shoe size boxes to members of our community who are currently serving over there.   I have a list of items that I’ll share with you that we are collecting.  I also have some addresses of soldiers currently serving in Iraq who are from Callahan; every soldier loves to hear his name called at Mail Call and they’d like to hear from you.

     -  Our lodge will again be participating in the National Cancer Society Relay for Life.  Some of us want to put together a team for the event on Friday, Mar 30 & Saturday, Mar 31, 2007.  If you are a cancer survivor or have a family member who has had cancer then you can appreciate the importance of this event.  Our team will be raising funds and if you’d like to donate or help sponsor our team then let me know.   We also need volunteers to join our team; your spouses, kids, or grandkids are welcome to be on our team so that we can keep someone walking the entire night.

At our meeting on Oct. 17th we will be voting on the Petition for the Degrees on Mr. J. Tucker.

On Oct. 18th we will be conducting an Entered Apprentice Degree for Mr. Marques and possibly Mr. Tucker.

As always let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill.  We’ll try our best to visit them or send them a card.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

August & September 2006

FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, this coming Saturday, Aug 26th, the Order of Eastern Star (OES) will be having their Founders Day (Rob Morris) Picnic at the lodge beginning at 5 P.M.  Our lodge will be providing the chicken and the grilling.  Please come and support our O.E. S.

Since our last Trestleboard we held a degree and passed Brothers Brown, Higginbotham and Nantz to the Degree of Fellow Craft.  On Tuesday of next week, Aug 29th, Brothers Brown and Higginbotham will to be Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.  We will have dinner at 6:30 P.M. and the degree at 7:30 P.M.  Brother Nantz is in the military and is TDY so we’ll Raise him when he returns.

On Saturday, Sept 2nd from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. our lodge will be hosting a Child Identification Program at the lodge.  Other lodges from the 11th Masonic District will join us to take part in this program.  The Child ID Program is free and a Tee Shirt along with a computer disk with photo and ID Information will be given to the parent or guardian who must accompany each child.    Our Grand Masters Charity this year is the American Diabetes Association and we will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks to raise funds for his charity, the American Diabetes Association, during this event.

At our last meeting we received a petition for the Degrees for Freemasonry from Mr. B. D. Marques and two petitions for Plural Membership from Brothers Drew and Saunders; plus we voted for W:. Cooper to become an Honorary Member of our lodge.   At our September meeting we will vote on these petitions and Honorary Membership.  I have tentatively scheduled Sept 21st for an E.A. Degree.

We finally have our Callahan Lodge WebSite up and running.  It took a lot of time and effort to get it on-line but I think you’ll like it if you haven’t seen it yet.  We’ve tried to make our site more than just an advertisement for the lodge.  Our lodge has over 136 years of history and that history is an important part of our website.  All the Past Masters photos that hang on our lodge wall have been scanned and are on the site.  I’m working on a biographical sketch for each Past Master and if any of you have information it would help in updating the bio’s.  We’ll tweak as we go.  Our website is:

 http://www.mastermason.com/callahan32/

In July we hosted the 11th & 12th Masonic District Association monthly meeting and had 85 brothers in attendance.  Brother Len Lee prepared a great meal and everyone had plenty to eat; thanks Brother Lee for all your work in the kitchen.   During the meeting Bro. David Yarborough, Secretary for the Scottish Rite, made a presentation to our lodge of an oil painting of “The Broken Column;” which now hangs in the North side of our lodge.  At the meeting the Association voted to donate $50 for one of our Memoriam Chairs in the lodge.

Our fundraising efforts at the Blueberry Festival and the Hilliard 4th of July Celebration this summer were very successful.  Funds we raised will go for our community charities and the youth groups we support.  I’d like to thank those of you who came out for the fellowship and helping us sell ice cream.  Also, we owe a special thanks to Kim Grubbs, owner of the Cold Stone Creamery in Fernandina, for all her help in supplying the ice cream and ice cream carts at minimal cost to us.  She told me her grandfather was a Mason and she was a Rainbow Girl while growing up and she wanted to help us out.

Our Blue Lodge Breakfast on the first Sunday morning of the month is going well.  We started with 20 attendees at our first one in June, then 25 in July and this month we had 27 for breakfast and fellowship.  On Sunday, September 3, 2006 we will have our next monthly Blue Lodge Breakfast at the lodge; time is 7–9:30 A.M.  A $4 donation is requested.  Come and join us before church.

On Sept 9th, the Grand Master, M:.W:. Robert D. Trump, will have his official visit to our district at the Scottish Rite building.

Our next meeting is Tuesday 19, Sept.

Early light meal & refreshment provided.

Let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill.  We’ll try our best to visit them or send them a card.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

June & July 2006

FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, this past month or so has been a very busy time for our lodge.  We Raised Brothers Donnie Jarrett and Leonard Lee to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason. This past week we Initiated into Freemasonry Brothers Phillip E. Brown, Jr., Sission Clark Higginbotham, Jr. and Richard P. Nantz, Jr.  We voted for Bro. Monroe Royal to be a member of our lodge by Transfer of Membership. I represented the lodge at the 177th Florida Grand Lodge Communication. We participated in the Callahan Railroad Days with a float, to which we received many good compliments; especially from our fellow Masons who were glad to see a Masonic float.  We had our first Blue Lodge Breakfast on the first Sunday morning in June where 20 of us enjoyed breakfast and fellowship together. We had a booth at the Callahan Blueberry Festival on June 17 & 18 where we sold Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream to raise funds for our community charities and the youth groups we support.  And, on a more somber note we lost two (2) of our brothers; Brothers James E. Drury and K.C. Hodges passed on to that Great Celestial Home above.

On Sunday, July 2, 2006 we will have our next monthly Blue Lodge Breakfast at the lodge; time is 7–9:30 A.M.  We will have pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, juice and coffee.  We are asking a $4.00 donation.  I was told by several of you that the early breakfast even helped you to make it to Sunday School & church on time.

On Monday, July 4, 2006, we will have a booth at the Hilliard 4th of July Celebration.  We’ll, once again, be selling Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream and profits made will also go towards charities and the youth groups we support.  Come on out and give us a hand with our Masonic Booth; plus enjoy the day and the fireworks that night with us.

Remember – we voted to go HALF DARK during the months of July, August and September.  We will not have meetings on the first Tuesdays of these months.  We will conduct a meeting on the third Tuesday of those months and conduct degree work as required.  We have 3 petitions out and you can look for another E.A. Degree to be conducted in September or October.  If you gave someone a petition try to get it in to the secretary or myself.  We’ll also help them fill it out; have them call me if they need assistance.

Our lodge will be hosting the 11th & 12th Masonic District Association Monthly Meeting on Wednesday night, July 26th.  We should have about 80 brothers from other lodges in attendance and I hope many of you will come out for the dinner and the speaker.

I am tentatively setting Thursday night, July 27th for the next Fellow Craft Degree.  Once again I plan to sit in the East and most of the chairs will be filled by our own members.

We’ve made a lot of progress this year in attendance.  I’ve reappointed some of our new brothers to chairs that were empty and to get the new brothers involved.  I’ve heard some of you haven’t attended our meetings because you always had to sit in a chair because we didn’t have enough officers.  That shouldn’t be a problem anymore so come out an enjoy sitting on the sidelines.

The Order of Eastern Star (OES) will be DARK during the months of July, August, and September.  However, they will be having their Founders Day (Rob Morris) Picnic on August 26, 2006 and everyone is invited.  Our lodge will be providing the chicken and will be in-charge of the B-B-Q grill and cooking the chicken.  Please come out and help us support our O.E. S. Chapter.  I also want to extend a special thanks to our sisters who came out and supported us at the Blueberry Festival.  They were right there helping us sell ice cream and talking to folks about the Eastern Star and Masonry.  We are also planning to start having joint quarterly dinners; tell us what you’d like to see on the menu.  Several of our new brothers like to cook and we plan on keeping them busy.

The school next door, Sunshine Christian Academy, will be doing some expanding of their facility in the next few months. They have requested to use our social hall as a classroom while construction is taking place.  Our lodge has agreed and we will be working out an agreement that is favorable to both the school and to the lodge.

Let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill.  We’ll try our best to visit them or send them a card.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

May 2006

FROM THE EAST:

This past month has been a good one for our lodge.  We held a Fellow Craft Degree and two (2) of our E.A. brothers, Leonard Lee and Donnie Jarrett, were passed to the Degree of Fellow Craft.  We accepted three (3) new Master Masons into our membership; Brothers William DeForest, Billy Henderson, and Foster Wright into the lodge by transfer of membership or by dual affiliation.  We received five (5) Petitions for the Degrees of Freemasonry from: Joseph Blitch; Kristopher Bennett; Phillip E. Brown, Jr.; Sission Clark Higginbotham, Jr. and Richard P. Nantz, Jr. who will be balloted on at our next 2 meetings.  Plus we received an additional Petition for Transfer of Membership from Bro. Monroe Royal and will ballot on him next meeting.  All our events have been well attended and the kitchen crew has severed some fine meals.  A special thanks to Brothers Foster Wright and  Len Lee who have turned out to be master chiefs who love to cook.

On Thursday, May 25, 2006 the lodge will conduct a Master Masons Degree to Raise Brothers Lenoard Lee and Donnie Jarrett to the Sublime Degree of a Master Master.  Then on Thursday, June 22, 2006 the lodge will conduct an Entered Apprentice Degree and hopefully we will have all five (5) candidates for Initiation.  We will begin both these nights with a dinner at 6:30 P.M. with the degree to follow at 7:30 P.M.

The Past Masters Degree Team will be putting on the Master Mason Degree for us but we plan to put on the E.A. Degree, as much as possible, ourselves.  I’m sure we’ll need help but myself and others in the lodge want to do as much as we can ourselves.  We will be practicing Monday and Wednesday evenings and invite those of you who want to participate to come our and join us. You can also join us if you just want to brush up on your catechism.

On Saturday, June 3, 2006 we will have a float in the Callahan Railroad Days Parade.  We are going to use the float that the 11th & 12th Masonic District Association uses in some of the Jacksonville Parades.  We also have Patchy Panda, which the kids should enjoy, coming be part of our group that day.  The parade forms at 9 A.M. and will begin at 11 A.M.  We need you to come out and ride on the float and help us show the community we’re here.

On Sunday, June 4, 2006 we will have our first monthly Blue Lodge Breakfast at the lodge; time is 7–9:30 A.M.  We will have pancakes, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, juice and coffee.  We are asking a $5.00 donation.  The Blue Lodge Breakfasts will be the first Sunday of each month from 7-9:30 A.M.  Any funds from this will go toward some of the small projects we are doing around the lodge.

The lodge will have a booth at the Blueberry Festival on June 17-18, 2006.  Plans are to sell ice cream, fresh cooked pork rinds and soft drinks.  Funds made at the festival are used to sponsor our Little League teams and other community activities.

One of the projects I have been working on has been trying to get a lodge sign on the corner of U.S. Hwy #1 and Frank Brookins Drive.  I have received approval from the Town of Callahan and FPL to put a sign on the FPL pole at that corner.  I ordered the sign and with the help of Brother Tom Campbell, Campbell Signs, we should soon have it up.  Your donations at the Sunday breakfast each month are what I hope will pay for this and a few other needed projects.

At each meeting and in each Trestleboard we ask for prayer and God’s healing virtue for those sick among us.  Many times our prayers are answered and we don’t hear those reports. Recently our prayers were answered in a speedy recovery of Worshipful Bob Taylor and his wife Sister Peggy.   Both have been back to Eastern Star and W:. Bob has attended a couple of lodge meetings and most notable was the recent Fellow Craft Degree; he brought a lot of chuckles as he pestered the Chinaman.   Also it was good to see R:W:. Bob Fisher back in lodge for the degree and other meetings.

This past month we presented a 40 year Member Certificate and Pin to Bro Foster Wright and a 25 yr Membership Certificate & Pin to W:. Bob Taylor.  We have some more we need to present and prefer to do it in the lodge, if at all possible.

Brothers with the pick-up in attendance and the new brothers coming into the lodge I am going to make some re-appointments.  I’ve talked to some of our officers who have not been able to attend lodge to let them know I will be doing it.  We have new brothers who want to work their way through the chairs and I see no reason to wait until next year for these new brothers to start working toward their goal.  In upcoming lodge meetings we should see every chair occupied by the officer who holds that respective chair. You’ll see a few new names in the coming months and I’m sure some will progress all the way to the East in the next few years.  There’s a lot of energy in these new members and it will be great for our lodge.

At our last meeting we voted to go HALF DARK during the months of July, August and September.  We will not have meetings on the first Tuesdays of those months.  We will conduct a meeting on the third Tuesday of those months and conduct degree work as required.  I know of one young man who will turn in a petition when he turns 21 yrs old in July and we don’t need to hold him or any other candidate back.

This has been a long Trestleboard but there is a lot happening.  We have other upcoming events and hopefully more of you will get involved and come out to be with us.  We’ll be supporting the Eastern Star Organization Day Picnic on August 26, 2006, we’ll be having a few quarterly socials, and I have a hog lined up for a pig-picking.  These are events where we can meet our new brothers and their families.

Let us know about any of our brothers and sisters who are ill.  We’ll try our best to visit them or send them a card.  Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

April 2006

FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, the lodge will be conducting a Fellow Craft Degree on Thursday, April 20, 2006.  We will have dinner at 6:30 P.M. and begin the degree at 7:30 P.M.  The Past Masters Degree Team will be putting on the degree for us.  We have 2 brothers: Bro. Len Lee and a brother from Hyde Park lodge. Come out and join us and our visitors.

We had a very good turnout for the E.A. Degree last month and especially honored to have last years Grand Master, Most Worshipful Elmer Coffman, as one of the visitors.  R/W Wilmer T. Atwell delivered the Entered Apprentice Degree Lecture.  Also last month our Family Night and Official Visit was well attended.  Kudos to Brother Tom Page who caught and fried the fish for our meal.

This month we worked with the Girl Scouts to pick up trash on our section of Adopt-A-Highway in Callahan.  There were 10 girls and 7 adults/leaders.

On April 7-8 we supported the Cancer Society Relay For Life, which was held Friday night & Saturday, at the West Nassau High School Stadium.  We had an area were we sold some grill chicken sandwiches and drinks.  We went in the hole as far as funds go but by being there we were able to meet some local men who want to become Masons.  In the near future I expect some petitions as a result of this endeavor.  There are a couple more community events coming up which the lodge will be supporting: the Callahan Railroad Days Parade and the Blueberry Festival.  At this time we are planning on entering a float in the parade and having a booth at the festival.

In the last trestleboard I mentioned that we are sponsoring a Little League team this year.  The name of the team is the Storm.  They play on field #2 at Callahan Intermediate School on River Road.  The team began their season on April 1st and will play thru May 20th.  It’s our team and our youth so try and get out and support their games; let them know you’re a Mason.

Several of our members have talked to me about having a couple of fundraisers each year.  Other lodges in the district are having fish fries twice a year and meals are by donation only.  We also discussed having a  monthly breakfast social on Saturday or Sunday morning; if we had it on a Sunday we would make sure it began at 7 A.M. and would be over by 9:30 A.M. so everyone could attend church.  Let me know what you think.

Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.

Brothers, check your dues cards to make sure they are current.  Only a few brothers have outstanding dues to be paid for this year.

March 2006

FROM THE EAST:

Brethren, the lodge will be conducting an Entered Apprentice Degree on Feb 28, 2006.  We will have dinner at 6:30 P.M. and begin the degree at 7:30 P.M.  The Past Masters Degree Team will be putting on the degree for us.  The candidate is Mr. Lem Lee.

As mentioned in the last Trestleboard we have several other upcoming events at the lodge with visitors from the 11th & 12th Masonic Districts.  Like I said before “it sure would be nice to see a good turnout at these events”.  The night after we have the Entered Apprentice Degree we will host the District School of Instruction on Wednesday night, March 1st; we’ll begin with a light meal and refreshments at 6:30 P.M. and then at 7 P.M. begin instruction on the second section of the Master Mason Degree.  The following Tuesday night, on March 7th, we’ll have a Family Night and an Official Visit by our DDGM.  This event is open to the public and will begin with a Fish Fry at 6:30 P.M; this is a regular meeting night but we will not open lodge so you can stay with your guest.

Remember the Eastern Star has invited everyone to attend their 2006 Installation of Officers at 2 P.M., on Saturday, March 25, 2006.  Incoming Worthy Matron is Carol Kwaak (daughter of RW Gene Mayberry) and Worthy Patron is Brother Wiley Hickox.  This will be an open event to the public.  The Chapter will also have their Official Visit on Saturday, Jun 10th, at 8 P.M.

The District Masonic Association is sponsoring a Golf Tournament on April 17th.  Our lodge has supported this event in the past and the proceeds go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund.  Last year our district associating raised and donated over $10,000 to the fund.  The association is also looking for golfers and volunteers for the tournament.  Also our association has some reserved seats available for the Sun’s Game on Friday night, April 21st.  The tickets are $13 each; you get in an hour early for free food & drinks that are included in the cost.  Many of our brethren take their children & grandkids to these games.  Let me know if you’d like to get association tickets .

Speaking of baseball, we are sponsoring a Little League team this year.  We’d be happy to receive any donation to help support our team.

Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.  If you know of any brothers or sisters who are sick please let us know.

February 2006

FROM THE EAST:

Some of you may not have heard but we lost Worshipful Willis Adams this past month.  He had been ill for several years and passed away on January 25th.  He was the Worshipful Master of our lodge when I received my degrees back in 1967 and holds a special place in my memories.  We also learned last month that Brother William Dinkla died on December 14, 2005; we conducted a memorial service for him on January 14th at the lodge.  Both the families of these brethren thanked us for our caring and the sympathy that we extended to them during their loss.  Both families mentioned how much Masonry had meant to both of these men during their lives.

We have several upcoming events at the lodge with visitors from the 11th & 12th Masonic Districts.  It sure would be nice to see a good turnout at these events.  First we will be hosting the District School of Instruction on March 1st; we’ll begin with some light refreshments at 6:30 P.M. and then at 7 P.M. begin instruction on the second section of the Master Mason Degree.  The second event is a Family Night and an Official Visit by our DDGM on March 7th.  This event is open to the public and will begin with a Fish Fry at 6:30 P.M; this is a regular meeting night but we will not open lodge so you can stay with your guest.

The Eastern Star has also asked me to let our members know we are invited to their 2006 Installation of Officers at 2 P.M., on Saturday, March 25, 2006.

I have been using e-mail to send out short notice information to our members.  If you would like to be added to the Lodge E-mail List then send me your e-mail address at: SGMJHPage@aol.com.  I use the e-mail to send out lodge information: such as death notices, Scottish Rite, Shrine, York Rite, our Masonic District Super Calendar and other e-mail messages of Masonic interest.

Remember our sick and shut-ins in your prayers.  If you know of any brothers or sisters who are sick please let us know.

FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK:

Brothers, most of you have already paid your dues and if so you should have received your 2006 Dues Card.  Now would be a good time to double-check your card to make sure you have a current card and if not send in your dues; better yet, you can pay them in person at our next meeting.

Fraternally yours,

Michael W. Wingate, PM

Callahan Lodge Shirts & Hats

Callahan Lodge #32 Golf Shirts are still available for purchase.  We have some on-hand or you can choose any other color shirt that you want.  The cost is $20 and for $3 extra you can have your name added.  Other type shirts are available and cost will depend on the cost of the shirt you want.  We can also order hats with our logo on them
