Britannia's 100th Anniversary Celebration

October 15, 2005 marked Britannia’s 100th anniversary celebration...and what an exciting event it was!

While the ladies took in presentations by the RCMP and Blue Flame Kitchen, over 130 Brethren (from 4 jurisdictions and 29 different Lodges!) received the Grand Officers of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, and witnessed the reconsecration of Britannia in a Corn, Wine, and Oil Ceremony.

After Lodge closed, the Brethren of Britannia dedicated a Friendship Stone to commemorate this important milestone in the North East Corner of the Lions Centennial Park, near Fort Ostell Museum.  The significance of this location will not be lost on fellow Brethren who may visit the site.

The celebrations concluded with a Banquet at the Ponoka Kinsmen Recreation Centre, which saw presentations by the Grand Masters, a stand-up act by Bro. Ron Williams, and Powerpoint Presentations about Britannia's history from then Bro. Greg Henkelman and RWBro. Gerry Webber.  WBro. Charlie Cutforth did a great job as Master of Ceremonies.

At the conclusion of the evening, Britannia Brethren received 100 year medallions to wear while visiting other Lodges in Alberta.  If any members of Britannia have not yet received their medallions, please let us know at the next regular meeting to claim yours!

We are all deeply indebted to the late RWBro Ernie Hickmore and his committee for a job well done.
