Brothers,
The year is going by at a swift pace. The month of May is upon us, and it is almost time for the annual Grand Lodge
Communication, which will convene in Orlando on May 28th and continue until May 30th. Our Lodge will be represented by our
Senior Warden, Brother Zeb Turner, Worshipful Brother John Wigger, as the proxy for our Junior Warden, and me. We expect to
have a very interesting and informative as well as entertaining time in Orlando this year.
At our first stated meeting on May 8th, we will review all of the proposed legislation to be considered at the Grand Lodge
Communication. Please try to attend this meeting. It is important that we discuss all of the proposed changes and how they will
affect us. Let your delegates know how you feel about any changes in regulations or policy and how you would like them to vote
on each of the proposals. At the same meeting, Worshipful Brother John Martin will conduct a proficiency examination of our
Fellow Craft Brothers who are looking forward to their Master Mason degree sometime in June.
Our Brother Bob Jenkins was Raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on May 8, 1962, and by coincidence his
50th Masonic Birthday falls on the date of our first stated communication in May. We are planning to have Brother Bob with us
that evening to celebrate his fifty years as a Master Mason. Brother Bob hasn’t been able to visit with us very much in the past
couple of years, and I’m sure that he will appreciate all of his friends and Brothers being there to help him celebrate this important
milestone in his life.
Mr. Ian Phillip Murray and Mr. Brian Paul Gilvey were elected to receive the three symbolic degrees of Freemasonry at
our last stated communication in April. The Craft elected to cancel our stated communication on May 22nd, and I have scheduled
an Entered Apprentice degree in its place. Please make every effort to join us that evening and welcome these candidates into our
time honored fraternity. As usual, dinner will be served at 6:30 P.M. and the Lodge will be opened promptly at 7:30. Worshipful
Bro. John Wigger will sit in the East, and I’m sure that he will welcome all of the help that he can get, particularly from among our
newer Master Masons. If you can take a part, please contact me or Brother John; we will find just the right part for you.
Lots of things are happening in Amelia Lodge and in the rest of our world-wide fraternity today. If you don’t attend meetings, you are missing out on so much, the fellowship, the news about what is going on elsewhere, and of the rewards of Freemasonry.
We begin each meeting night with a nice meal, at which your wife and family has always an open invitation to join us at
6:30 P.M. Following dinner, our tyled communication opens at 7:30 P.M. I made a commitment at the beginning of this year to
make our meetings short on business and long on fellowship. I also made a commitment to increase attendance and participation in
Lodge activities. I intend to pursue both of these objectives, but I can’t do it all by myself; I need your help! If you haven’t been to
a meeting in a while, come on out and reacquaint yourself with your friends and Brothers. I’m looking forward to seeing you.
Jesse R. Tiner
Worshipful Master
